Just a thought this morning.

It has been coming clear to me the deep desire for connection.

People are so desperate to connect they are becoming addicted to their choice of connection. A few that comes to mind is Face book, texting, and chat rooms.

This desire to connect is so great with in, people have to be blocked when at work and school. People who normally would be very diligent in their work are finding the drawing so strong they are crossing their boundaries they've established for years (professional boundaries to be diligent in work and keep personal habits outside of work )to connect during the day while at work. Taking the chance of loosing their job, just to connect with another human being.

Connecting has become a huge opening for spreading the gospel.

When someone posts a thread in the forums and someone responds, they are connecting with them.
When someone posts on the shout and someone responds, they are connecting with them.
When someone is in chat and people respond to them they are connecting with them.
When someone posts in their cool space and someone responds they are connecting to them.

On facebook there is this little "like" button. When someone posts something and someone else clicks that "like" button it brings the person a good feeling inside because they've made a connection and they want more of that.

People are desperate to connect.

Just as God is desperate to connect with them (and us).

If people don't connect here, they WILL go where they feel connections. Perhaps places that are not Godly. Even those places that are Godly can bring harm to people when they are vulnerable. There are many sites that like to debate and beat people over the head with scripture. Sites that are filled with people led by their pride instead of by His spirit.

Even those who have been here years may fade away if they don't feel connections here.

There is a huge need with in the world to have a sense of belonging. Of connecting. Perhaps not everyone.There is a huge desire with in the lost and the found to connect. It's a lonely difficult world we live in. We know God is the one to fulfill that need for them to connect. The lost don't understand that. And even the found forget. Yet if we aren't connecting with them, they will go else where.

Connect to someone today.

Connect with God.......Ephesisan 6:18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

There are many hurting and in need. The bible warns us this will happen and that the response of MOST will be to allow their love to wax cold. Matthew 24:12 "Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold." NIV

I agree with you and I believe I am getting a headache from some of those people you are talking about

only they are from my church, instead of doing what we are here to do they want to condemn and look down at those around them.
It is something that I have been seeing in myself and trying to change, I posted a message for some of the youth on my facebook page BUT it was blunt and at a level that I felt would make them read and think about and someone I use to hold dear to my heart with their opinion and friendship almost caused me to not post it BUT 2 others and sunday's sermon convinced me otherwise (the 2 was teenagers) I wrote another for the teen boys but I have some work to do on it, I know some won't understand but I didn't write them for ADULTS to understand I wrote them in hopes of "connecting" with just one of the teens hopefully more due to the sensitivity of the subjects
I believe sometimes you have to step outside the box and be radical to get the attention of some of these teens today
and that is what I tried, and now here you are posting this about connecting the VERY next day.

I'm glad you are reaching out to these teens. I think many avoid what you are doing. I think I avoid it. It's awesome that you are pushing through!

What a neat topic sister pine. I think we all have a need to connect with others...you are so correct...and I suppose it's not really where we do it or how we do it...but just that we DO connect. It would be easier to become a hermit and sit in our own little worlds...but if you have a heart for people...there is no way God is just gonna let us do that. He's persistent...and He will literally throw people in our way to get us to connect...if He knows we are the one who can minister to that individual in whatever way they need.

Love the topic.....and a good one to think about. There are many times when I feel down and someone will send a txt or message here or on FB that will just lift my spirit. A connection given to me from another can turn my day around I try to reach out and connect with others here and on my phone and FB just to say have a good day!! You never know who might need it! And prayers during the day keep my connected to my Jesus!!

Aww thank you both mlg and sb for your kind words. Feels good to connect doesn't it? Makes a person want to come back for more.

Ever notice kids at school don't connect much while doing school work. It's on the play ground they connect.




It's my prayer that those who come here in need of a connection find it.

I had to use that smilie cause he's so cute! When you aren't here.....you are missed. There's a vacant spot just like at the dinner table when one family member isn't home for dinner. Not trying to guilt anyone. I know we all have our things to do and even need time away from time to time. I am just saying, you are important, you are needed, your gifted in a special way to help keep this Oasis family running smoothly. You may not see this. But others do.
