Question about Jesus death
Does anyone have wisdom as to why water came out of Jesus when they pierced him. Such as a medical reason as well as spiritual reasons.
John 19:34But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

Re: Question about Jesus death
One reason I ask is the preacher said He was pierced and had shed every last drop of blood so no blood flowed out when pierced only water. When I looked it up, I found that He did indeed still have blood with in.

Re: Question about Jesus death
He died of congestive heart failure. when this happens water and blood pool in the sac around the heart. the soldier pierced this sac with the spear.
Christ was beaten so severely that He likely went into hypovolemic shock. this means He had lost so much blood that His body began to conserve and consolidate what it had left. when He was on the cross He was unable to breathe unless He was holding Himself up. When His muscles were to exhausted to hold Himself up He sagged. when He sagged He couldn't breathe. This lead to pleural effusion. This term means is a buildup of fluid between the layers of tissue that line the lungs and chest cavity. which led to congestive heart failure.
hope this helps...makes me sad to be so scientific.
Praise God for His Son. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice.
In Your name, Amen

20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Re: Question about Jesus death
Hello Pine and Everyone
God bless you this day.
While the piercing of Christ, fulfilled scripture (Psalm 22:16,17), it also showed that Jesus, while He was God, was also man. God is a Spirit, and God came to earth in the form of man, Jesus.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
1John 1:1-3 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (2) (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) (3) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.
The human body is made up of something like 75% - 90% water, so it would only stand to reason that if a human were stuck with a sword, that water would come out with the blood. Our Lord did still have some blood remaining in Him.
John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
God's Word is amazing!!!
Thank you, Pine, and everyone who has added to this thread. It is awesome to fellowship with you over the Word of God, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
God bless and keep you.
