Never forget that we ALL fall down as we sojourn down this Christian Walk. The trick is to get up and carry on fighting the good fight of FAITH. An Impure Addiction

Postby Guest » Wed Aug 25, 2010 6:00 am

Thank you Lord for helping me find such a site and community of believers to help me get through this addiction. I've been a single parent of three children since 2005. As a mother and child of God, I should not be living such a sinful life.

This sin that I have carried for so long has been a huge burden on my life. I can only turn to God because I am ashamed of this sin since I'm a woman. How does a woman talk to someone about an addiction to pornography and self pleasure?

I feel trapped in this secret lifestyle that I've been living. I try so hard to break this addiction on my own with God, but I always fail. How can I continue to ask God for forgiveness, and then sin again? I know better and yet I still let my flesh win.

If there is anyone out there that can help me fight this. I continuously carry this guilt and cannot move on because I'm a Christian. Why can't I be free from this sin? Just when I think I'm doing good, this urge comes back and I get tempted into this sinful act.

Please pray for me

Hello suburstclarity, Welcome to the Oasis! Sexual addictions plague many of today's children of the Lord...It is something that the enemy will use against us time and time again if we allow him to. I think that one of the issues is that we often look for temporary pleasures...instead of seeking the one that can give us everything we need forever...I know your struggle is not an easy one...and yes the enemy will come back to use it against you as often as possible...but one way to fight the enemy is to put on your armor for God and you've taken that first step by coming here to the Oasis and doing the counseling steps. Now, I'm not saying you won't fall again...but the key is not falling but getting back up and fighting the temptation harder the next time. We serve a loving and a forgiving God. He knows our hearts and if He knows that we need His strength He will be there...grab hold of His strength...and fight that good fight.

Praying for you sunburstclarity.

Come visit us sometime in the chatroom.

Take care and God Bless
Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.

You're in the right place!

Hi Sunburst!
You are so in the right place. I know because I have some of the same problems, with alcohol on top of that. But PTL (Praise the Lord) since I started my 14 day stepping stone process I have had the ability to redirect my thoughts AND actions. Not to say they do not creep back in, but CO is such a loving family, full of God's love and Word, this will give you part of this armour you need to fight off the thoughts (satan himself).
I know how you feel. How could have I ever gotten into this, if people only knew, worst of all, well there's no way I could be God's child and continue in such behavior, and on and on.... God with the help of CO has helped me rid myself of "self-hating". When God saved you He knew what was going to happen and He still said I love you my child, come on in. There is HOPE!
In doing the steps, open your heart totally to what God is saying to you. Try to be obedient to what He tells you to do. I have made it a practice to log into CO everyday. Read posts and get involved with the chats. (I think there is one Thursday nites, for people that are doing the steps, check the chat schedule in the Sanctuary) This will give you strength and encouragement!! I promise it will if YOU allow it too. Just be willing for God to take control and what He has in store for you.
Fill your home with christian music. Songs that lift and praise our Lord. Will definitely help!!
Look forward to getting to know you.
You are loved girl!!
In Christ

Oh when I first created my user name, I was so down my name was "needfreedom". Well that implied I was always in need, so I had Phantom change it for me. I was on the downside before CO, now I am really on the UpSide. Moving up toward Him who loves me so.

Hello sunburstclarity

Welcome aboard the Oasis

I am an addict/alcoholic (among other things) , and But for the grace of God I am free from that obsession today . Simply put , an addiction is nothing but an obsession , a THOUGHT , that's it ! A thought that overrides ALL other thoughts .
It matters NOT what we are addicted TO , how we got this way , why or when , the thing is , if it starts to CAUSE a problem(s) it IS a problem . That is what we need to focus on , we need to focus on RIDDING ourselves FROM the problem . And that is where the steps come in . They help us find out why we think the way we do , and next they give us a solution of what to do to stop thinking that way , and STAY stopped .
SO , in other words sister , the problem is not YOU ! You are NOT your addiction . And most importantly , your addiction DOES NOT DEFINE YOU ! so quit beating yourself up with it . What you have is a Spiritual malady , and you can ONLY overcome this Spiritually , so , how about we get stepping huh ? The sooner we get to it the sooner we see the Light !

Luv ya
In Christ , our Lord
