Christianity Oasis Forum

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

Please help!

I struggle so much with computer porn...I am happily married, (really, I am), I have a good job, a beautiful, wonderful wife...and yet, I struggle with this...sometimes I can go months, but when I indulge, it is usually for days at a time...I've tried Celebrate Recovery, accountability partners, everything...my wife does not know, though she might have the slightest suspicion...sometimes I masturbate when I look at porn, other times I get so disgusted, I don't...please help me!

Hey svdbybld, welcome to the Oasis! Sexual sin addictions are some of the toughest addictions for Christians in my opinion. It's because we seek the feeling of flesh more than the feeling of the Spiritual sometimes. I want to encourage you to seek the Lord deeply and to really work on building your relationship with Him...making Him first in your life above all others. Once you do this...during these times of temptation you will have on your armor and be able to know how to call upon the Lord to help you fight the good fight.

My prayers are with you.

Welcome again, and hope to meet you in the chatroom sometime.

Take care and God Bless
Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.

Thanks, MLG!
I already feel better, just getting it off my chest. I struggle with the whole thing at times, and I wonder if God really hears my prayers to deliver me from this...because I think if He did, He would instantly remove the problem, you know?

Hi svdbybld
Welcome to Oasis and Welcome to SOS. We have all struggle at one time or another with something. I konw how hard and frustrating this can be especiallly when you are married. The fear of her finding out and so forth.
Might I suggest a filter. If you are serious have your pastor or someone come and put a filter on your computer so that you do not have the password.
When you feel you need to go there....why not pick up your bible and read for a little while. Satan will not like that at all. Oh yeah and place a bible by your computer. Something about having my bible by mine makes me think twice about going anywhere I shouldn't.
Prayers are with you and once again welcome to SOS

hey svdbybld, well here's Truth my new friend...sometimes God allows us to go through things for many reasons...to make us stronger in our faith towards Him...or to test our Trust in Him...or like in Job's case to show Satan just how much Job loved God...

But that doesn't mean God doesn't hear your prayers...because He does...but think about it...if everything in life was simple and we didn't go through trials then what would we need God for? I mean we'd just go around doing our own thing never calling upon God...so just know that God doesn't allow trials in your life to hurt you...but to help you become what He is molding you into.

You can get past these temptations...but it will take lots of work...and at times you will fall short...but the key is that you get right back up...repent...dust yourself off...and go back to running the race.

Take care and God Bless

And if I can add. Come to chat or go to Christian sites instead. Once you start reading or listening to the speakers, the urge leaves. I like Joyce Meyers or Patricia King...they have videos that are amazing. Look for someone you can like that will "talk" to you.

Don't let the enemy get at you with the guilt and shame. Redirect your thoughts toward good all the time until it becomes habit.

Welcome to Oasis!

My first thought whenI read your struggle, is that you are doing the very thing you need to do. You are admitting that you are struggling. Then you are admitting that you need prayer warriors to pray for you. So many times when we are struggling, it is hard to pray for ourselves. We are so emotionally connected that it's hard for us to pray and have faith for an answer. Yet, just as the four friends took the man to Jesus - their friend, if you will, those in Oasis who have read your post will be doing the same thing. We will be praying for you.

When you try to pray about it and it doesn't seem like your prayers are making it through the ceiling, when you feel that you've failed again, remember you have friends who are praying for you.

I was OK for a couple of days...then I slipped a few minutes ago, and wasted quite a bit of time. Time that could be spent doing other things. I'm so afraid God is going to somehow punish me for all this...and I am so afraid of losing everything He has given me, including my wife and family. And the thing is, like I said, I will likely stop for a couple of months. What is wrong with me? This should be such a simple, easy thing to do. I'm getting ready to go meet my wife and stepdaughter, and then we are all going out for the evening. Please pray that I would have a good evening. I want to be a good man and a good husband.
Thank you.

Praise God! He is good. *angelbounce*

Thanks Pine.
I started to read it, sounds like quite a story.
Yesterday was a good day, today, at 6 a.m., is a new day. I am concerned about my stepdaughter and her new husband. He is not quite the husband he should be, and he mistreats her. Thanks everyone for listening.
