Christianity Oasis Forum

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

Hey Smiley *Wave*

You know something sis..... I see hope here :) Yes something from your past was revealed, the beauty in this is that you can let God's light.... and Truth shine on it. It is not your fault your mother "got sick".

Sis, I myself have played this blame game with the enemy, on a few topics. It is his sad attempt to keep your light hidden and none of us are willing to let him win, and neither are you. :)

It was not and is not your fault... Please release yourself from this shame and guilt, give those pains to Papa and He will bring you peace.

I know I am not going anywhere, and neither are the many family members you have here at Oasis..... in time, you will continue to open up, cause that is what healing is about, but sis..... there is nothing you could share that would turn any of us away. The poor choices others made that resulted in your hurt does NOT make you a bad person and is NOT your fault either. The times you falter and slip off the path Papa intended for you don't make you a bad person either, they make you human.... but your human you does not define you. Remember that your spirit is what IS important and IT is Eternal.

I hope you will continue to post smiley sis, always here walkin with you.

Luv ya girl!

A wonderful question sis...how does one fall in love...well it usually starts out by meeting someone...and then after you meet you don't fall in love immediately...you fall in love by spending time together...getting to know one another and doing for one another...so my sister if you want to fall in love with Jesus...you start by seeking Him...then spend time with Him...by reading the Bible, listening to Christian music, praying, and talking to Him...the more you allow Him to come near the closer you will become to Him...and then my sister the Love will grow :)

Don't loose HOPE cuz the love is there and it is real and it is awaiting you.

luv ya

Hey Girl *Wave*

So awesome to see ya continuing to post!!! :)

I don't see being human as a "problem" sis but as something to overcome :) Your human you does NOT define who you are to God. The physical being is of this world... and when the world is gone, it will be too.

I wish I had some magic cure that would fix this for ya.... for everyone really. But the truth is there is no magic cure, it takes work.

Sis.... I know you aren't going to like this but I promised you plain truth... soooooooooooooo here goes:

smiley wrote:What do I need to do to get this thinking turned around,

Make the choice to turn it around, every single time you begin to travel down that road.

smiley wrote:and know that I am a child of god

Stop telling yourself you aren't.

smiley wrote:and that he loves me?

Stop trying to earn it.

smiley wrote:let go and let god.
Everyone keeps saying that, but I've never really heard any practical ways to do that.

Continue to surround yourself with people who are God centered and keep your focus on Him.

smiley wrote:asked god to take this addiction.

He cannot take what He did not give. You have to make a choice to let it go and give it to Him to release yourself from it's power. The reason it has the control it has is because you continue to give it such.

I pray your heart hears the love in this message sis... as that is how it is meant. I am here, continuing to walk with ya girl please keep pushing through.

Luv ya!

Smiley to let Go and Let God only means that you really need to think more about God than the addiction. When the addiction gets to much , who are you really thinking about, you or God?
Whose desire are you wanting to full fill, yours or God. Smiley you can not trust 2 masters. You must love one and hate the other. You must turn from one and turn to the other. The cholice is yours to make. Only you really know what you want.

Smiley I know that you ask all the time for God to take the desires away....but yet you are still saying at the same time how bad you really want the addiction.

Smiley you have to stay in the word EVERYDAY, you have to talk to God EVERYDAY. not just ask Him for things but share your heart with Him, tell Him how much you love Him....Thank Him for all He has done for you and in you.
Put your praise on sis. Put them head phones on and listen to that praise.
You know it is bike riding weather almost, hit the trails with your Bible and ipod go spend some time with the Father like you have told me you have done before.

I love you sis and I so want to see you free. I pray that you are not offended by anything I have said here but know that I have said it in love! Ok?

I am sooooo ready to see/hear you *laughter* again, to rofl again and to
be all God wants you to be.

Lets go *Swinging* and chat sis.

Oh sis, I think many of us have had those nights...but it's during our times of weakness that God becomes stronger...as He has to get us to a point we will allow Him to work on us...as any other time we tend to fight Him...when He wants to help us....this is where you are now sis...God wants to work on and through you...and you have to be willing to submit to His ways...and not those of your own...

I find it awesome that your eyes are beginning to open to the Truth of things....now the growing begins.

luv ya

*hug5* I love reading your posts. I walk away with something to chew on and feel a connection as well.

SmileyThe keyboard gets flooded because it is so hard to sin and then go to practice for leading worship on the organ the next morning. Talk about guilt!

We have to be cleaned up in our Sunday best before we walk into Gods house hu? Is that Gods plan or mans ways?

Conflict in firendships is the worst. I know it is sometimes through small arguments/disagreements that we grow stronger, but i hate it. Things are hidden from each other so as not to put a burden on the other. but who best can help us, besides Jesus, as our best friend? In my "new life" I want to just be able to be open and honest in my friendships, not holding back, yet being discerning in what is beneficial to share/not share.

Would you want your friend to share or hold it all in so not to effect you? Sometimes when your dirt is tossed onto someone else it causes them to do some of their own gardening. If life is all peaches and cream we don't grow. Just get spiritually fat.

love ya smiley

I hope that tears do not hurt keyboards.

Smiley you have bought me to tears this morning.
I'm so stubborn! Guess you've all been trying to tell me this but I want MY will to be done! I'm feeling a little humbled this morning, just reading this short passage, and am starting to understand that until i submit to god fully I'm going to be stuck in this miserable place, continuing to ask you all to help me when i need to work with God and help myself

You stubborn, you could never make me believe that! rofl We are all stubborn and we all want things our way. It is hard to learn to step out of the way and let God have control when we are used to controlling own lives and doing what we want to do. But once we begin to say "Jesus have your way" and begin to try to follow His way ....it does get just a little easier.

I have put a good friend on the back burner this past few days because I was so focused on my own struggles.
This struggle has made me selfish, and I hope that friend will forgive me. I hope its not tooo late to repair any damage in the relaitonship.

Smiley I am sure that if this friend is truely a friend they will know that you have been struggling and they will understand. I am sure that the friend will do more than forgive you, they will probably tell you that they understand and that they too have been in the same spot you are in. As far as any damage to the relationship, do you really believe this caused damage? Afterall a good friend would understand that you are struggling and pray for you.

I spend all day fighting with the devil and God, should I or shouldn't I?

Why do we tend to give the devil so much time and God so little? We spend time fighting with him when just a simple act of leave me alone is Jesus Name would send him fleeing. We fight with God because change hurts and we are comfortable with things being our way and don't want to change. But as you can see when we learn to give in and listen to God instead of the devil, things run muxh smoother for us.

Talk about guilt!

Don't dwell there. Just ask God to forgive you and move forward from this point on.

In my "new life" I want to just be able to be open and honest in my friendships, not holding back, yet being discerning in what is beneficial to share/not share.

That is an awesome statement to hear you say. This tells me that you are turning it all over to God and that you are choosing to follow HIS way and to Listen to HIS voice. Smiley I know that the angels in heaven are rejoicing now at your decision to start fresh and new with Jesus Christ.

As I stated in the beginning you have brought tears to my eys not out of sadness but out of the fact that you get it! You finally get it! You are learning to trust and to let go and sis THAT is awesome. Know that you will stay in my prayes daily!
Love ya

Hey Smiley!!! *Wave* (yep... me again) :)

My heart sings with praise at reading this post because sis.... truth is setting in.... His truth is taking hold and that is always Awesome! God is so SO Good!

Nice to see you posting again!!!!

Who isn't selfish really.... we all want what we want.... two days ago....

A hundred years ago, people thought nothing of including "making bread" in their weekly preparations... perhaps even nightly... what do I know I was too young to understand time ;)
Anyway.... now, because we've busied ourselves with so much else.... we don't take the time to make our own bread, (the staple of many meals)... instead, we buy it, baked, sliced and packaged with preservatives and all kinds of unnatural unhealthy additives, all because of this mentality.... Now! The same is of course true for a thousand other things. :) We've grown accustomed to a life of conveniences and ease.

But, How much better is fresh baked bread at home? annnnnnnnd How good does it smell? After the work is done and the bread is in the oven, the smell permeates the air and there is a certain level of peace to it... "a job well done"

The same is true for our spiritual walk sis.... we all want it now, without the pain and work... and clean up ;) But at the end of the day, when you've done some weeding and you begin to roll down your sleeves, you will find that moment of peace and you'll hear.... "Well done" :)

We surround ourselves with others who are spiritually centered for many reasons... but, the one I am thinking of is: For the same reasons we stop and ask directions when traveling somewhere "unknown" ... since we ourselves haven't yet been there, it is best to get some advice from someone who has navigated the rough terrain. So we seek those who have "been there" to help shine His light where we need to go. His answers will come through many means as His instruments are limitless... choosing of course, to apply those tried and true methods is a choice we all have to make. Isn't His plan awesome that way? *Cheer3*

Being totally, 100% honest about that which is hidden, is the only way to allow His truth to correct it.... Being honest with Him, with those you trust.... and with yourself, is always the best course of action.

I am so exited to see where this journey takes you and I am so blessed to be walkin with ya sis.

Thanks for sharing!!!

Luv ya Sis!
