Nathan

Postby Mackenaw » Sat Jan 30, 2010 7:16 pm

Hello Everyone :)

I've had Nathan, The Prophet, on my mind quite a bit lately. He was used of God to deliver messages to David and to Solomon -- just to name a few. But what about the man Nathan? Not much is revealed about him as a personality, but mostly what was spoken to him by God and in turn what he then delivered -- repeating what The Lord said.

But in II Samuel 7, there is a peek at Nathan the man.

See, David had just shared with Nathan that he thought it good to build a temple for God. He shared how he, himself, lived in this glorious house, and yet God didn't have an impressive looking house.

II Samuel 7:3 And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the Lord is with thee.

Yet, that very night, The Lord spoke to Nathan and told him to tell King David not to do what he was planning.

Nathan didn't approach David the next day with...is my face red or what? he simply delivered God's message to David. And David didn't question the change in Nathan's answer -- he knew the difference between what Nathan the man said from what Nathan the prophet said.

Another thing, there's no doubt that David heard from God on an one to one basis, so how come concerning certain matters God spoke through another prophet, instead of directly to David?

Ok, just thought I'd throw that out there, and see if anyone else had thoughts about these same things.

God bless you all.
Love,
Mack

hi mac!!

oh nathan!!!

Ye si love the story of nathan! He is a righteous friend.

Being my sons name is nathan i have done much research on the background of nathan.. but the thing that sticks out most about nathan is

the meaning of the name itself is
"gift of God" or "gift from God"

Righteous friends are truly gifts from God!

I love my nathan!
