Starting Over

Postby Guest » Sat Jan 02, 2010 7:45 pm

Well, here I am again going through the 14 day program. I have been going through some hard times and I haven't been trusting in God to help me through them. I have been sitting around feeling sorry for myself and drowning in self pitty. I feel like there is something that I am missing but I don't know what it is. I am also finding it hard to meet people whom I can hang out with who don't drink, drug, smoke, or cuss up a storm. I have been logging on to this site here and there but I haven't wrote anything. I know it is the devil and his lies and I also know that he is doing this to keep me from God but what I don't get is why I strugle and give in so easily. Sometimes I think that there is no hope for me. I want so much to be closer to God and let Him run my life. I just hate it when I feel the way I do and then slowly start to fade from Gods grace.

welcome back brother *hug* been missin ya around here :)

You know what... we all go thru these times I think. I know I have.

Why do you sometimes struggle and give into temptation? Cuz my brother, we are not perfect creatures. We have a sin nature, that we will live with till the day our souls are freed from this fleshly body. You are not alone in this, we all fall short.

I listened to a short sermon on Grace last night, and how beautiful was the message. See, we go thru life, thinking that if we are obedient to God, then we are covered by His Grace. When it is infact the opposite. Because Grace is unmerited favor, something we cannot work for, but is given to us, our actions do not determine whether God extends His Grace towards us or not. When we become a Christian, we are covered by the Grace of God and nothing we do, or dont do, can take this away from us. It is strictly by the mercy and love of our Father that we receive this. And it is only when we are truly understanding of the depths of God's Grace, we are able to act in obedience, knowing and trusting in the fact that Jesus paid the price for all our sins, many many years ago on the cross, even the ones we commit now and will in the future.

I offer you this my brother:

Romans 8:35 - 39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Now that you recognize the traps of self pity and such that the enemy has lured u into, you need to apply the Truth of the Word to these and you will see those chains begin to fall away.

GBU brother blue, its wonderful to see u posting again *hug*

Hey bluebird, nice seeing ya again.
Best thing I can tell you is get new friends or lead your old friends to the Lord *BigGrin*
If you surround yourself with fellow Christians, you won't want to leave God's side. These people will encourage you so you can do what the Lord needs you to do.
If you are afraid to be Christian in front of these old friends, then you have a fear of man that makes you act different.
And I pray that your girlfriend knows God too. That makes things easier.

Well, we love you for who you are. *Hug9*

I want to thank everyone for the wonderful words. Sometimes I let things get to me to much. I am going through the 14 day steps again just for a refresher course. I have also been reading some of the other studies here. Sometimes life can be hard and seem unfair but I know that God will see me through as long as I let him.

Happy New Year everyone and may it be a blessing to all and your familys.

Luv

Hey Brother Blue :)

Awesome to see you back again!!!!!

A refresher is always welcome and sometimes necessary.... at least for me :) It is amazing what we see the second or third or tenth time through any of these walks.... I've sometimes thought.... "OK they just added that! I know I didn't read that before..." lol His truth speaks to us in that moment with whatever knowledge He deems necessary.... and that need often changes. He knows what we truly need without the limitations of our Human understanding. HE is so Awesome that way!!! :)

May you find additional truths not revealed during your first walk! Better understanding and a clear path would be awesome too .... God's Will bro.

*Amen2* Ya know... this is a pretty big statement and one many need to hear (or read). Releasing our will to allow His is the key to peace in our hearts and minds. :) He has all the answers we need, choosing to listen is the challenge!

Walking this journey with you bro, always an honor!!!

*Cheer2* *Cheer3* *Cheer2*

May our Father abundantly bless you with whatever He knows you need, and may you see those blessings and all His glory!

Peace and Luv in Christ,
*BlessYou* Lani

Bluebird, brother, you've encouraged me to do the same.
I've forgotten I need to keep going back and refreshing.
Life gets hard at times bro.
As the body of Christ we are to help each other.
Not feel we have to do things alone.
Here is you need an ear.
Or a shoulder.
I'd give you a tissue but I used the whole box up already. lol
luv ya

We luv ya brother blue *hug* And u know what, good times or bad, always know that u have family here who care very much for you. So never isolate yourself, as that is what the enemy hopes you will do. Come talk it out, vent, lean on someone... As Pine shared, its why we have each other.

Chin up brother :) Whatever happens on this earth, cannot take away from what is yet to be ours in the Lord when we leave here and move into eternity. Keep pressing towards the finish line. Jesus has you.

Love and blessings to you and yours :)

Hello again brother

Been a while , we have a saying , actually a question in an answer form (a bit sarcastic at that ) in another "program" I'm involved in , "How was it out there ? Things getting any better yet ? " , Well , obviously not right ?
So , my brother , it makes my heart move everytime I see a member return , especially the ones with the arrows sticking on their backs !! And I thank you for making me realize that I still have a heart , by your moving it for me with your comeback .
The arrows sticking on you back indicates two things for me , 1) That you didn't get "hit" from the front ! Duh ! you might say , right ? Well here's # 2 ) The arrows on your back indicates that you were running away from the situation that you went back to . Let me see if I can connect the dots here , you ran from there the first time because ? why ? Couldn't handle that much fun huh ? Ok , how about the second time ? Is it because the "fun" got even better ? Well my brother , this is God's way of saying "Come here , get closer to Me , I want to say something to you , but there's too much static for you to hear Me clearly , how about getting rid of the excess noise first by going through these steps however many times it takes , I'm not going anywhere , I'll be here and I'm patient enough to bring you here the first time and waiting for you the second , just don't worry about where you been , just pay attention to where you're going !"

How do I know all this ?
Well it took me close to 4 times going through these steps to find out , but , but for the Grace of God , didn't have to stick my head out of the foxhole to see if I was going to get hit !

Like momo said , we do these steps everyday in everything we do .

A bit of an advice though ? At first , try to stick to one program and concentrate on that first , then move on to the next , instead of going through a bunch of them at the same time . I'm not saying don't read them or anything like that , it just makes things easier when we first arrive , later , you can read or go through as many as you wish at the same time .

Glad to have you back

In brotherhood of Christ our Lord
