"L.G." (my son)
Hello Oasis Family!!
Please know I appreciate each and everyone of you a great deal!
I come to you tonight with a Prayer Request...
Perhaps I am being selfish as the knowledge that others are joining me brings peace to a rather turbulent feeling I cannot shake. Even as I type this I am covered by a calming peace which has me thinking I should just log out and let it be.... but.... No, I am reaching out despite my discomfort.
Please pray for my son, he is sick (details are not yet available). I know God has him and he will be fine.... I am just uneasy about this and seek comfort in the knowledge that others are standing with me.
Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.
May He abundantly bless and keep each of you always!!
Peace and Love in Christ,
Lani

O Family,
Thank you so very much!!
To update you:
We arrived at the Children's Hospital this morning before dawn, CT scan at 6:30, surgery at 7:45.... Home by Lunch time!
The speed and efficiency of their work is both comforting and concerning.
The CT Scan showed extra fluid in the ventricles of his brain, however the increase is minimal and likely not the cause of his pain. He will be monitored monthly to ensure this pressure does not build, if this occurs a shunt will be placed (they assure me this is a common procedure, done a dozen times a day.... "Not to MY son, it would be his first, but thanks for the attempt at comfort."
God's will be done, I know He will see lg through whatever comes.
Further examination proved the cause to be an incredible amount of fluid and pressure on his ear drums. They explained that this would indeed be terribly painful (lg's "headache" was simply a result of his inability to "pinpoint" the area of pain). The Neurologist and ENT both said, "It is unusual that his ear drum hasn't perforated considering the pressure"... among other comments. This is his 12th set of tubes (somewhere along the way, I lost track I thought it was 8) and "We have every reason to hope that as he grows, this will correct itself"... heard this comment SO many times for various things.
On a "How awesome is God" note:
I sat in the waiting room (during lg's surgery) and had a chance to visit with one of the nurses I've come to know rather well. We celebrated his 12th set and said "See you next time, Coffee!".
A (very young), obviously distraught, young woman sat across from me, mindlessly paging through a magazine... not really reading (if you've ever sat waiting for a family member in surgery, you know how far off your thoughts really are in moments like this). I said "Would you like to talk or pray?" Her tearful eyes slowly raised, and all she could say was "Thank you"... I realized in that moment "This is why I am here, Thank you Papa".. and together we prayed.
I learned a great deal about her and her little girl in the moments that followed . This was her (daughters) first surgery (7 months old; first set of tubes in her ears). As it turns out, we live only 20 minutes apart; yet both traveled over an hour in the predawn hours to be there. While the clock said we had talked for only 15 minutes... if felt like hours, we talked of so much and I know the Holy Spirit was with us. The Nurse announced that her daughter was arriving in the "Post Op" so we hugged and parted ways (phone numbers properly programed into cells ).
Funny how Papa works, I am ever grateful for the bends in His road. I believe the "turbulent" feeling was more the spiritual knowledge of what would come to be.... His will always.
Please know how much I appreciate your Prayers!! He heard, and responded. We are aware of a medical situation that needs monitoring and because of this, treatment can begin early if needed.
Peace and Love in Christ,
Lani

Wow! I enjoyed reading about your day. How wonderful God is to lead you two together.
May you feel his comfort and presence through the healing of this surgery.
God bless this young man during this time.

Lani, sis God bless you and your lil one. I know how difficult these times can be...having been in that waiting room so many times myself. Its so awesome to see how the Lord moves in these times...just reaffirms more how God brings about the good in a seemingly bad situation. His plans and will goes on, despite the circumstances.
Im praying for your lil one, and for you, too. That lil boy is His, too. Praying He brings you overflowing peace and him, healing. His perfect will be done.
In Jesus,
luv ya!
