Sophie Scholl was a young German woman during the 1940's. She saw the deterioration of her country under the iron rule of the Nazi regime, and she determined to make a difference. She and her brother, with a small group of friends began to peacefully protest not only the actions but the values that the Nazis had forced upon the nation.

Sophie and others were arrested and executed for speaking out against the evil in their land. Although she wasn't anxious to die, she saw that the conditions in her country had to be addressed--even if it meant her death.

Sophie's story raises a critical question for us as well. What would we be willing to die for? Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Pete Fleming, Roger younderian, and Ed McCully gave their lives in the jungles of South America because they were committed to spreading the gospel. Elliot revealed the heart that drove such sacrifice when he wrote, "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." The apostle Paul put it this way: "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain" (Phil 1:21).

Some things really are worth dying for--and in them we gain the reward of the One who declares, "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matt. 25:21,21) __Bill Crowder

************Today's Bible Reading __ Philippians 1:19-26***********

19 For I know that this will
turn out for my deliverance
through your prayer and the
supply of the Spirit of Jesus
Christ, 20 according to my
earnest expectation and
hope that in nothing I shall
be ashamed, but with all
boldness, as always, so now
also Christ will be
magnified in my body,
whether by life or by death.

21 For to me, to live is
Christ, and to die is gain.

22 But if I live on in the
flesh, this will mean fruit
from my labor; yet what I
shall choose I cannot tell.

3 For I am hard-pressed
between the two, having a
desire to depart and be with
Christ, which is far better.

24 Nevertheless to remain in
the flesh is more needful
for you. 25 And being
confident of this, I know
that I shall remain and
continue with you all for
your progress and joy of
faith, 26 that your rejoicing
for me may be more
abundant in Jesus Christ by
my coming to you again.

Paul's comments in Philippians 1:19-26 about life and death take on
even greater significance when we consider the circumstances in
which he wrote these words. He was in Rome-under house arrest.
He did not write these lofty ideals in a place of ease and comfort,
but under imprisonment. It is a helpful reminder that our true heart
is revealed in season of pressure and in the crucible of testing.
Paul's heart stood up to the test, and he was shown to be faithful.

*Amen2*

He is worth dying for indeed, though few have faith strong enough to not second guess this.

Thanks for sharing Cimi! *Hug9*
