Do you have a relationship with the Holy Spirit?
You know.... where you walk with Him and talk with Him and include Him in your day to day activities and thoughts, seek His guidance etc.
A simple yes or no is fine tho if you wanna elaborate, that would be really cool too as we can discuss it a bit.
I have been working on my relationship with the Holy Spirit for a couple years now. Its still hard... I forget to include Him, then I wonder if im goin nuts and imagining things in my head... ugh!
I so want that strong relationship with Him. There are specific times tho, when I can feel Him so powerfully, especially when im speaking to someone who is hurting or if im preparing a program for chat... stuff like that where i truly just surrender and let Him do the talking. I guess thats my answer there ... less me, more Him.
Control is hard to give up. But Im beginning to understand that its necessary to receive what He has to give.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this, and for those who are walking strong with the Holy Spirit, perhaps some suggestions.
Thank you and GBU all

Walking strong with the Holy Spirit???
Walking strong with the Holy Spirit????
I think you all hit the nail on the head when talking about less of us, and more of the Holy Spirit, especially our weakness, dependency, reliance. Can't do anything without Him can we? Guess then we are headed toward total dependency. And even at that, I don't think for a sec that I am the one leading Him in that direction...haha...This past year has been an ever increasing revelation of just how strong and present the Holy Spirit can be in ministering to me and thru me. That, in my opinion, is walking strong with the Holy Spirit, when we yield to His direction. Great topic! L,ICJ,Den

Amen saint Isnt it pathetic and funny how we think we have control over everything... including God?
I know what u mean mlg. Im always doing something or other, to the point where the day goes by and I realize that i was so preoccupied with myself and what I was doing, that I forgot to include the Holy Spirit into my life that day.
All the things we do 'naturally' now, had to be established as habit. We get up in time for work each morning... we brush our teeth, take a shower... all these things have become rooted in us cause of repetition.
In this way too we have to keep working on establishing that relationship with the Holy Spirit, to the point where we no longer need a spiritual alarm clock to tell us we need to include Him or spend time with Him, cuz it will come 'naturally'.
God is good.

A possible key...
Lizzie, mlg...was mulling over your thoughts..and decided what we need to get ourselves more dependent on the Holy Spirit is to become more needy..you know how ministers are always wanting something from the Lord..new this..that..raise these funds to give for missionaries..so forth and so on and on..one minister I know has the philosophy, "get yourself in more trouble."
My thinking is that we don't ask enough of the Lord where are use for Him is concerned..you know like James said..we ask amiss..
So wherever we are, whatever we are doing..we could ask Him, hey Lord, would you use me here..would you get me this so I can...whatever..just thoughts...and like to know yours..smiles, Den.

Get myself in more trouble huh? I think I do that already enough
Just kidding saint, but I like the idea of it. Learn to rely more on Holy Spirit by getting out of your comfort zone. Hmmm, I'm gonna think on this, and ask Holy Spirit to reveal some thoughts to me.

First... Lizzie Diz!!!!!!
Second... forgive me for two things..
1. I didn't read all of the replies (mostly because I end up writing a novel, commenting on others comments) so if I repeat something already shared, I apologize.
2. I just learned how to make the cute little "Quote Boxes",
SOOO much easier... LUV IT!
OK... that said....
Sounds like you are on an awesome path toward strengthening that bond sis. (and) Considering this is an older post, my comment may be of no use.. but I will share with you, something my grandmother taught me twenty years ago.. yes I was 10.
For those of you who haven't heard me speak of her yet... My Grandmother was the most spirit filled woman I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I lived with her for a few years when I was very young (Working on my testimony, I promise, so more on her and that later).
My grandmother and I spoke every evening (I was back with my parents and siblings by now). We read the Bible, talked.. whatever came to be.
Anywhoo...
I was facing uncertainty and felt overwhelmed by what lie ahead. She said "Lani, are you doing what we talked about?" After some discussion and me saying I didn't remember how, she said.. "Baby girl, your own words to say this.. ask the Father to watch & guide you, ask Jesus to walk with you, and ask the Holy Spirit to surround and use you."
This (varies slightly from day to day) is the prayer I say to begin my day:
"Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and patience. Please watch over me , but, more importantly watch over your sheep who are lost, may they find your light soon. Guide my path so that I may do your will and help me to always remember, all is according to your plan.
Brother Jesus, thank you for always being by my side. I rest fully in the knowledge that you are here with me.
Holy Spirit, please surround us with your loving mist. Speak through me so that God's word may reach others through what I share.
Together with the Trinity, I know I am safe in this world.
In Jesus Name, Amen"
I say this prayer before I get out of bed every morning. In that moment I am better able to focus on His will, not my own and that generally makes for an awesome day.
I pray this helps sis. As I said, I realize this post is older.. but I clicked on it for a reason.
Luv Ya!
Peace and Luv in Christ,
Lani

Oh Lizzie
Yes I include him in my day. Through out my day from beginning to end.
Yes I fail to include him in moments during that day.
And when I do I fall so miserable. When I look back and remember things I did or say and I wonder why did I say that or how could I have done that and I notice I was so walking in the flesh and completely forgetting to seek his guidance.
When I am filled with complete joy no matter what is around me is when I'm so wrapped in him.
He wakes me in the mornings, with a hug or a song or just soft words. At moments when I wake I am certain I saw him passing over me. Sometimes as if he's my pillow and gently touches my cheek like a loving parent.
Sometimes it's just that feeling that I"m not alone, though I am. Or when I'm afraid and I feel him near.
If only I could stay in those moments forever. If only I always could remember to seek him before I speak or act. I have gotten much better. Maybe one day, ever step will be with his guidance. Every word taken to him before I even open my lips.
love ya Lizzie. I enjoyed this post and speaking about our relationship with our comforter, the Holy Spirit.

Hello Lizzie and Everyone
God bless you this day.
Do I have a relationship with The Holy Spirit? Yes, I do. And like Pine, I talk with Him all day long.
Ok, I wanna expound on this statement..."I talk to Him all day long."
I don't know about any of you, but my whole life I've had an on-going conversation with myself. No, not aloud -- well, I have caught myself saying it out loud, when I didn't intend to. Anyway, once I got to know The Holy Spirit, now when I do the self talk, it's no longer self talk, I'm talking to Him. He is in my mind and heart and my thoughts are that I'm talking to Him about whatever is going on in my mind.
I don't start off every thing I say in my mind, with Hey, Holy Spirit -- nor do I do that with my hubby either. If we are in the same room, I don't say my hubby's name every time I start talking to him, I just start talking to him. Well, same with The Holy Spirit -- I just talk to him, as if I'm talking to myself or someone else -- but I know I'm talking to Him, and yes, He knows I'm talking to Him too. If something is weighing on my mind, I talk to Him about it. If I drop something I say, geez I have butter fingers today. I know He's listening. It's comforting. I'm never lonely anymore. That's a huge difference and quite a confirmation too. Wooooohoooo!!!
Even on the rare occasion a scary thought comes into my mind, I quickly say to Him -- that kinda freaked me, and He reminds me to speak the name of Jesus or His Word. The fear goes "poof".
We discuss movies, music, my loved ones, my friends, dishes, laundry, doggies, health issues, doctors -- whatever I'm doing. He's a good cook too, He likes spices and herbs. But our favorite thing is to read The Word. Oh, the places He takes me. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome.
I love The Lord: Father, Son and The Holy Spirit. wooooooohoooooo!!!
God bless you all.
Love,
Mack

Amen Mack.
I can relate. Not to the spice because I never thought to ask him how to prepare the meal, but I have asked him what to prepare. He has even reminded me to check on dinner before it burns. Because he knows the frustration I'd go through to purchase the supplies, prepare the meal, and have to serve a burned meal to my lovely family. He's just thoughtful like that to help me out. How often I walk around wallowing in the frustrations of the day, instead of talking through them with him. I find those days much more difficult. Today was one of them. But he is patient and walks beside me waiting for me to just turn to him for advice and help and when I finally do, what a relief. My day seems to go smoother and my attitude is much better.
