August - 25 Discouragement
Hi Friends
Yesterday under prayer requests I told you how the Lord gave me this verse in Deuteronomy 31:8
"The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you; Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
God gave this verse to me a few months ago. I had not come on this site for many months. I was depressed, discouraged and I didn't want to talk about it.
When God gave me this verse I taped it to my bathroom mirror so my husband (who is out of work) and my son ( who is battling his addiction to heroin) could see it. I didn't see that God was talking also to me.
But finally one morning about a month ago now I read it after being diagnosed with cancer. A light finally dawned that it was for me too!!
Wow! It took cancer for me to wake up! Sometimes that is how it is. We get depressed and discouraged and it takes something else on top of what we are already dealing with to finally break through to us to give it all to God who "goes before us and will never leave or forsake us".
In Isaiah 64:8 where it talks about God being the potter and we are the clay we are apt to think we only have a few "lumps" for God to remove.
But really as long as we are in this world it is a constant process.
I quickly counted 6 times the bible states "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged" in the old testament alone. (there maybe more) This was a quick count.
Our Heavenly Father knows this will happen to us. He also wants us to know that He goes before us, leading the way for us if we allow Him to.
Maybe some of our trials will continue until we see Him face to face.
But while we are here on earth He will lead us to be mature Christians who can help others who are going through trials, fears, depression, discouragement like we experience.
Thank You Lord for the trials.
Luv You all
Sylvia

Hello Sylvia,
I am so glad the Seed of Truth was planted in you, and as God continued to water it, it grew and you were able to see it. Awesome!!!
Now, you are here planting more of God's blessed seed of Truth in the lives of others -- mine, being one of them.
God bless you, Sylvia.
Love,
Mack

Amen
Also in the Book of Psalms; many times it says "fret not" in which; to me, is the same thing as be not afraid.
God is in control whether we choose to believe He is or not. If we can ONLY believe, life would be so much easier.
But, I have found out that He wants us to have faith!
He rewards those who have unwavering faith.
To know Him and abide in and with Him will help us to aquire this type of faith. It is a daily choice for us.
Thanks You sis.

You seem to be speaking right to me as of late Sylvia.
Today I'm up to my neck in discouragement.
I know Gods got a plan in it all.
I pray everything works out as he wills.
Thank you. Thank you for posting and for being here.

Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.
