August 14 - Praising God at our lowest
Hi
During times when we are overwhelmed by our problems the last thing we feel like doing is singing praises to God at Church or at home.
Praising God during our quiet time, if we bother with a quiet time.
I too am guilty at times of this.
But in Psalms David often told us what problems he had and how low he felt and also praised God as well.
(Psalms 71: 10, 11, 14)
v. 10 "For my enemies have spoken against me; And those who watch for my life have consulted together,
v. 11 "Saying, God has forsaken him; Pursue and seize him, for there is no one to deliver."
v. 14 "But as for me, I will hope continually, And praise Thee yet more and more."
There is more in that chapter if you want to read the whole thing. But with me and this cancer scare I found praising God when I least felt like it gave me His peace. During those times of praise it fills us with peace which allows God to speak to our hearts without fear getting in between Him and us.
I personally have had people in my church come and say to me "whats wrong with your family? Its one thing after another!"
It seems that way at times. And if you read Psalms you will see David had one thing after another happen to him as well. Some being his own fault and some things the enemies around him continually after him.
Jesus said "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)
Jesus has overcome any and all problems we may encounter in this life.
He is worthy of our praise even when we are at our lowest.
God bless You

I know of another who has cancer and has also found that praising God through it is the way to peace.
For me and my struggles I find focusing on praise instead of focusing on the problems not only helps me find a peace in the storm, but helps me hang on through the trial.
After all the opposite of peace would be to stress and fear, I know that side all to well!
Those bring nothing but illness and mental struggles.
It is difficult, but rewarding to praise him when at our lowest. God is good to give us another option besides worry and fear.

Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.
