Day 6 and counting

Postby vahn » Sun Mar 15, 2009 1:18 pm

I'm basically drawing blank today , though a lot is happening , still having a hard time to have it sink in or rather, havn't sunk in yet !

Today , for the first time I decided to attend church services just for the sake of going , with no specific "reason" so to speak , for , in the past , I had to have a reason , such as Hatch, Match and Dispatch , or someone "made made me go" .

Nothing unusual about that ,so I thought, except for the two individuals that sat on each side of me , still nothing unusual about that , right ? . Ok , ever since I came to this retreat , these two stuck out like a sore thumb with me , more like a thorn in my side . One of says he came here seeking spirituality , but yet , no matter what you tell this guy , he has an argument about it "knowing better " why he shouldnt follow the directions given him . The other , total opposite of the first , every situation thrown at him , he comes back with one verse or other from the Bible , and most of the time has nothing to do with the issue at hand , just as long as he's reciting something ! in other words , a "Talking Bible" , in fact , at one point I snapped at him by asking him where the to find the OFF button . And here I am today, I decide to go to church for the first time , I get sandwiched between those two , one is singin & dancing and shouting halliluah after every word the minister uttered , the other , I see smoke coming out of his ears & nostrils .
After the sevices they one of them tryed some small talk , asking me what I thought , I said " I couldn't help noticing how musically inclined you are , you must of heard of Steely Dan " , he said " Go back Jack ? " I said "No , Stuck in the middle with you" and he goes "Clowns to the left me and Jokers to the right " I went hmm , you are smart after all , anything in the Bible for that ? " the other guy , interrupting, went " There should be , I said well "there IS" , one said no , the other asked me where it was , and I said ,"Well , how about this , why dont you both find it for yourselves , here's the catch , you HAVE to READ it "

I'm still numb about it , dont know wether to laugh , smirk , or just smile , but I think I should thank God for the changes He made in me that , at least I am not snapping back or being rude or use my good old "get a grip" attitude .

I know all this has nothing to do with step six , for in my opinion it is a daily practice that needs to be applied in my day to day affairs , and I can only report the result after putting into practise . But , nevertheless , I thank you for your time , and the allowing me the opprtunity to post my thoughts , I tell you , if I were to read this my response would be , "For some one who's 'drawing a blank' , that's a lot of writng isn't it ? "

What about you ?

vahn,

I smiled to see that you went to church today with an open heart. Not dreading going, and not going cuz you feel like you should, but going because you wanted to fellowship and enjoy the Lord with others. I know God was pleased :)

Another thing, even if you didn't type about step 6 that's ok, you shared the thoughts that God wanted you to share. Your doing well my friend.

luv ya
