LIVING DECEPTIVELY

READ:
2 Timothy 3:10-17
______________________________________________________________

The year 2007 was labeled the "Year of Living Deceptively" for South Korea, because of the country's numerous scandals involving fake academics and corrupt politicians. A survey of 340 professors selected the Chinese phrase "ja-gi-gi-in" (deceiving yourself and others) to sum up the year.

It should not surprise us to hear of deception like that. The apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:13, "Evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." To deceive is to make others believe falsehood as truth and accept wrong as right.

Our defense against deception is to know God's Word, for "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (v.16). Correction is to set right what is wrong, and instruction is to make known what is right. God's Word not only makes us aware of wrongs, it also prompts and teaches us to do what is right.

Is your New Year's resolution to walk rightly before God and others and to be "thoroughly equipped for every good work"? (v.17). Then read and apply God's Word, asking the Lord to make you a person of integrity. __Albert Lee

The more we meditate on Scripture,
the more readily we'll detect error.

**************Today's Bible Reading __ 2 Timothy 3:10-17*********

10 But you have carefully
followed my doctrine,
manner of life, purpose,
faith, longsuffering,
love, perseverance,

11 persecutions, afflictions,
which happened to me at
Antioch, at Iconium, at
Lystra--what persecutions I
endured. And out of them
all the Lord delivered me.

12 Yes, and all who desire to
live godly in Christ Jesus
will suffer persecution.

13 But evil men and
impostors will grow worse
and worse, deceiving and
being deceived. 14 But you
must continue in the things
which you have learned and
been assured of, knowing
from whom you have
learned them, 15 and that
from childhood you have
known the Holy Scriptures,
which are able to make you
wise for salvation through
faith which is in Christ
Jesus. 16 All Scripture is
given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in
righteousness, 17 that the
man of God may be
complete, thoroughly
equipped for every good
work.

In writing to timothy (as well as to Titus), Paul was seeking to
instruct a young minister in his efforts of spiritual service. This
second letter to Timothy, however, carries the added significance of
being the last words of inspired truth Paul would pen. Consequently,
his words reveal those passions that stirred his heart in what many
Bible scholars believe to have been Paul's final days. Read through
this letter and see if you can identify the priorities Paul wanted
Timothy to embrace. __Bill Crowder

Amen sister cimi :)

Jesus used Truth to resist satan and was able to overcome the temptations How can one tell the difference between the truth and the lie if they dont know what the truth even is? We must seek God's Truth. The Word of God is Truth. We must allow it to become firmly implanted within us, as it will become arsenal for future battles with the enemy.

Thanks for sharing sis *hug5*

Happy New Year and i luvs ya to bits :)
