GOD-OGRAPHY

READ:
Hebrews 11:1-6
________________________________________

a National Geographic News survey in 2006 reported that many young Americans are geographically illiterate. According to the survey, 63 percent of Americans aged 18-24 failed to correctly locate Iraq on a map of the Middle East. The results for US geography are even more dismal. half could not find New York State on the map, a third could not find Louisiana, and 48 percent could not locate the state of Mississippi.

Understanding geography is helpful in daily life, but "God-ography" (finding God) is infinitely more crucial__for now and for eternity.

In Hebrews 11:6 we are told that to find God and please Him, we first have to believe that He exists. How can we prove that God exists? Finding God is a matter of faith__confidence in Him and commitment to Him. This confidence and commitment should remain strong even though the objects of our faith are unseen. The writer of Hebrews and the apostle John agree that ultimately the way to find the Lord and please Him is by believing in His son Jesus (Heb. 11:6; John 14:6).

Finding God is solely a work of God. Those who seek Him will find Him because God will give them a heart to recognize Him as Lord (Jer. 29:13-14). __Marvin Williams

To find God, we must be willing to seek Him.

****************Today's Bible Reading __ Hebrews 11:1-6**********

1 Now faith is the substance
of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen.

2 For by it the elders
obtained a good testimony.

3 By faith Abel offered to
God a more excellent
sacrifice than Cain, through
which he obtained witness
that he was righteous, God
testifying of his gifts; and
through it he being dead still
speaks.

5 By faith Enoch was taken
away so that he did not see
death, "and was not found,
because God had taken
him"; for before he was
taken he had this testimony,
that he pleased God. 6 But
without faith it is impossible
to please Him, for he who
comes to God must believe
that He is, and that He is a
rewarder of those who
diligently seek Him.

Because of severe suffering brought on by persecution, the Jewish
believers were in danger of abandoning Christianity to return to
Judaism. The writer of Hebrews wrote to encourage them in the
faith by affirming the superiority and preeminence of Christ through
His Person (chs. 1-4) and His work (chs. 5-10), In Hebrews 11,
the writer encourages them to endure in faith, citing many Old
Testament saints who had persevered under presecution. Each of
them looked forward to the fulfillment of God's promises to them
even though all died not having received what was promised (v.39).

As you probably remember, I am homeschooling my kids. I am on a very fulfilling, extremely educational, and over-the-top fun journey. I never knew learning could be so much fun. While it is fun to be able to locate countries in the Middle East: Israel, Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, and Yemen KuWait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Island of Cyprus, Jordan and Lebanon, Turkey and Syria too-- 15 Countries of Southwest Asia--Muslims, Christians and Jews. (Yes, my kids and I learned all these by heart singing a song...soo cool). It doesn't compare though, to the fulfilling journey that I am on with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Too bad they don't make it this fun in school! It would have knocked my A-D-D out the window and I would have actually learned something. Not to put down Public School. I DID actually learn how to type there :)
