Yep skrubby, you know what's neat...I read your words and see for ever little weed you pull your developing patience. What an awesome treasure patience is. It allows you to do so much more in life, as the little things won't annoy you so very much, and instead you will be focusing more time on the Lord than on those annoyances. Ever step of this study is one new thing to work on. It's great to see you growing already. I'm proud of you and Jesus is too.

skrubby, I too used to be very selfish. I'm learning though as I work with the Lord to give up more and more for myself and give more and more to others. That means everything from time to money. I guess what it really amounts to is leaning less on myself and more on God's ways. It's like what would Jesus do? And I wanna be just like Him.
As for the being arrogant stage, I think we all go through that too, but then we get knocked down a notch or two, and realize everything we receive is not of ourself, but a blessing from the Lord. That office you are receiving, is a blessing that the Lord is providing to you. When I began to look at everything I receive as a gift from the Lord, then I became really humble. It's like Lord I'm not worthy of all these blessings. What else can I do for you Lord. You know though, I've found out you can't outgive God. The more you do for Him, the more He will bless, even through the trials, there's always a blessing.
Keep doing the steps skrubby. May God continue to bless you.

Hey Skrubbs,
Humbling yourself I think is one of the most crucial things in our relationship with our Father... I too went thru (and still do) the selfish times. Selfishness and arrogance takes on whole new meanings when you think in the context of His Will. And yes, everything we receive are blessings... even the things we sometimes don't want!
I will keep praying for you on your journey and in these areas... keep fighting the good fight, bro! Love ya much...

Amen on our choices affecting other people, but allow me to take that a step further.
Our past experiences, even our failures, allow us to KNOW what others have or are TRULY experiencing. Not just something we read in a book and think we know what's up, but rather have actually ENDURED the pain and suffering and that makes us better equipped to reach for those who are troubled and lost cuz we reach with UNDERSTANDING and LOVE and the lost and troubled soul can sense it.
In other words, they are down the same spiritual dark alleys we were, before we found our way out. We are familiar with the darkness and know just how painful and lonely it can be, which creates an inward fire to get others out of there.
Most will never FEEL this passion.
So, God can use us and turn our past mistakes into another soul being set free. And maybe this is just one way God saves souls.
1 Peter 4:8 ... And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity (UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR OTHERS) shall cover the multitude of sins.
Keep on keeping on ...
Luv ya bro

skrubby, who am I, that is a question we all need to ask ourselves, but even more who is He in me. What we were before we met Him, is now not what we are with Him. We are alive and new. We now have the Jesus power within us to reach out to others and share the Spirit of life.
I look back over where I was and where I am, and I see two totally different people. My soul before Him, was dark and gloomy, my soul now is full of sunshine and happiness. I love sharing my happiness as I have been probably deeper than many souls here, but knowing this helps me to understand them and show them a new way.
Keep doing the steps skrubby. It's great to see your relationship with the Lord deepening. A blessing indeed.

skrubby your right we have to claim the Power of Jesus in order to be able to use it. And as you said sometimes we want manpower instead of JESUS power. Sounds kind of lame, but I'd attriubte that to pride. We are too proud to ask for His help, and want to do it all on our own. But, our way usually fails. His way will succeed.
Thanx for sharing your thoughts as you go through the steps skrubby. It's a joy to watch you grow.

Hey Skrubbs,
I agree with mlg's comment about pride keeping us from relying on Jesus power... I also think with some peeps its a trust issue. I'm just speaking generally here, not necessarily in your case, but we can pay lip service to our Lord and thinking we are following His Will when deep down in our souls we continue to hang onto our own reliance. For me this was where the renewing of the mind EVERY DAY kept the good seeds being planted and those weeds being yanked out.
As the Truth says trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own Understanding...
Keep on keeping on, my brother... love ya dearly

Susidivah,
Good point. I failed the Lord allot cuz of trust issues. I had trouble trusting Him with my life. It was so easy to believe He saved me but when it came down to letting go and letting God, I failed miserably and then tried in my own power to "fix" my life. God must have been either laughing or crying cuz I tied His hands. I really hate confessing this but I must confess it.
I have heard that you need to renew your mind and a good way to do that daily is to find specific scriptures and write them on cards and look at them daily until it SINKS into your very being.
Do you have any scriptures that would encourage me to trust Him no matter what?
Tracy
