PHENOMENAL!
READ:
Psalm 8

O LORD, our Lord,
how excellent is Your
name in all the earth!
__Psalm 8:1
________________________________________
At 3:00 one August morning, I awoke to experience a total lunar eclipse. It began at the precise moment the astronomers predicted and progressed just as they said it would. In one sense, it was a natural, recurring event, but it was also a phenomenal glimpse at the power and glory of God.
As the earth's shadow crept slowly across a bright full moon, the psalmist's words came to mind: "When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?" (Ps.8:3-4).
Planet earth is not all about us, but by God's design, it involves us. The psalmist marveled at the heavens, but he was more amazed that the great Creator, whose glory is above the heavens, included us in His grand plan for the ages.
To worship any part of God's creation stops short of giving glory to the One who made it. The Bible lifts our eyes to see that all creation proclaims the glory of God, who has showered His grace and love on us through Christ.
"O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!" (P. 8:1). __David McCasland

******************Today's Bible Reading __ Psalm 8**************
1 O LORD, our Lord, how
excellent is Your name in
all the earth, who have set
Your glory above the
heavens!
2 Out of the mouth of
babes and nursing infants
You have ordained strength,
because of Your enemies,
that You may silence the
enemy and the avenger.
3 When I consider Your
heavens, the work of Your
fingers, the moon and the
stars, which You have
ordained, 4 what is man that
You are mindful of him,
and the son of man that You
visit him? 5 For You have
made him a little lower than
the angels, and You have
crowned him with glory and
honor.
6 You have made him to
have dominion over the
works of Your hands; You
have put all things under his
feet, 7 all sheep and oxen__
even the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the air, and
the fish of the sea that pass
through the paths of the
seas.
9 O LORD, our Lord, how
excellent is Your name in
all the earth!

It has been suggested that as a shepherd boy tending sheep in the
fields, David was inspired to write this psalm by the stars in the
night sky. Pondering the majesty of God (vv.1-3) and the mortality
of man (vv.4-5), he observed that man has significance because he
enjoys God's special care (vv.4-5) and is given dominion over the
earth (vv.6-8). Psalm 8 is quoted in Matthew 21:16, 1 Corinthians
15:27, Ephesians 1:22, and Hebrews 2:6-8. The Hebrews citation is
used to decribe the humiliation and exaltation of Christ.
