Re: Favorite Bible Passages
Hi Taryn,
My favorite is John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.

Re: Favorite Bible Passages
I like the verses that speak of salvation being the power of God.
Romans 1:16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth;...
1 Corinthians 1:18. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
We need not dread our imperfections so much. For it is by the power of God that we are saved.

I know this may sound weird, but, has a passage ever made you laugh?

Struggling with sin. I find this passage entertaining and I can easily relate to it.
Romans 7:14-16. 14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.

Re: Favorite Bible Passages
My favorite is related to a very familiar one, but I adore the next verse. I will share it in context:
John 3:16-17
Verse 16 ... For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Verse 17 ... For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
I absolutely LOVE God's Grace.
Both receiving and sharing it with others.
Luv ya

When you're feeling sad, or lonely, or scared, are there any passages you reflect on to help you through?

Re: Favorite Bible Passages
Hello Taryn
God bless you this day.
The Word, Himself (Jesus), is an inspiration and He lifts me up. I remember a time in my life that whenever I was feeling really low and overwhelmed, I couldn't seem to find peace in reading God's Word. The reason? I didn't know Him. I would watch various TV ministers, and at times would feel so elated and uplifted, but I could go back and google their sermon and listen to it, and it fell flat.
But, since then, I have developed a deep and abiding relationship with The Lord, and whenever I'm low, all I need to do is seek Him with my whole heart.
Depending on the situation, by sadness could be due to my own actions, or due to the actions of others, or due to a death or, or, or -- the list goes on and on. However, The Lord has shown me that if I seek Him, that He will reveal what's going on and how to best begin to feel better. Sometimes I'm in need of forgiveness, therefore I need to ask for His forgiveness. Sometimes, I need to forgive another, and He'll lead me to do so. Sometimes, I need to just climb in His lap and have a good cry and confess all my worried thoughts. Other times, I just need to get some fresh air and dance with abandon -- or at least listen to some crazy fun music. The right music can work wonders. God is Good.
There are so many wonderful studies on this site. I know you complete the 14 Day Counseling Study ...congratulations. You may want to dig into the Spirit of Truth study next...it's a 7-Day Study. Truly, it is awesome.

God bless and keep you,
Mack

Psalm 73:23 Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.
Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.

This is not one that I reflect on. But, it's a good one.
Psalm 55:22. Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
