WHAT IS GOD CALLED IN THE BIBLE?
Adonai - means "Lord," representing God's Lordly relationship with us (Mal. 1:6).
Jehovah - a word used for "Yahweh," which shows God's salvation (Gen. 2:4).
Elohim - God's power and might and thus His ability to protect us (Gen. 1:1).
Jehovah Shammah - "The Lord is there," showing that God is there for us when we need Him (Ezek. 48:35).
Jehovah Rohi - "The Lord is my shepherd," demonstrating God's leadership and guidance (Ps. 23:1).
Jehovah Maccaddeshem - "The Lord that doth sanctify you," speaking of the fact that he transformed and consecrates us (Exod. 31:13).
Jehovah Rapha - "The Lord thy healer," signifying His power to heal and help (Exod. 15:26).
Jehovah Sabbaoth - "The Lord of hosts," or armies, picturing His power to rescue and fight on our behalf (Isa. 6:1-3).
Jehovah Jireh - "The Lord who provides," explicating His ability to provide (Gen. 22:13-14).
Jehovah Tsidkenu - "The Lord our righteousness," showing that He Himself is righteous and good on our behalf (Jer. 23:6).
Jehovah Nissi - "The Lord our banner," showing that God leads us into battle and goes ahead of us (Exod. 17:15).
Jehovah Shalom - "The Lord is peace," signifying that god gives us peace (Judg. 6:24).
El-Elyon - "The most high God," demonstrating that He is utterly holy and high over us in power and esteem (Gen. 14:17-20).
El-Shaddai - "Almighty God," showing that He is the almighty God (Gen. 17:1).
El-Roi - "God sees," proving that He knows our plight and is strong to save them (Gen. 16:13).
El-Olam - "The everlasting God," pointing out that He will never die (Isa. 40:28).
