Overwhelmed yet again

Postby redbandit » Fri Oct 04, 2013 2:52 pm

I'm really needing prayers for peace, trials just keep snowballing. I'm having medication problems. I'm getting to the point where I just want to go off meds completely. Will see a medical professional first of course. They are way too habit forming, and that's not what a person needs! Does anyone know much info about natural "meds", I've heard a little and am looking into it. My doctors just want to medicate me, and the drugs don't help much at all.
Next week I finish my temp job, I still have another part time job though, very thankful for that :) we are still struggling with finances, but we are doing better. I really wish I could physically and emotionally handle a regular full time job. I feel like such a failure most of the time.
My husband and I are planning to go to a Biblical marriage retreat next month, and I'm really excited. I am really thankful for you guys here and all the encouragement.
God bless all!

The medical profession does want to give you more and more meds. I don't think they can deny it. I had a very bad reaction to hydrocodone after an accident this week. Trouble breathing, itching, reduced urination and horrible gas. And you know what? she gave me more hydrocodone, an anti-heartburn medication and told me to quit taking ibuprofen. I went home and looked up the meds on the internet. Realized I had about ten symptoms of hydrocodone reaction and none for iburprofen. Continued the ibuprofen and didn't take either of the prescription drugs I had already purchased.

I have heard so many stories - you itch, they give you an anti-itch medication. They just keep piling them on until you are a walking zombie. I sent a relative to a different doctor in hopes of reducing his meds and he ended up with two more. Finally he found a doctor who reduced the number of meds back to 8 or so. He was on 10, was told to take 12 and got it back to 8.

Meds do make a lot of people live not only longer but better. So, I'm not knocking meds. I'm knocking the blind and continued prescription of them - the treating of a side effect with another additional drug instead of trying a different first drug.

Please, look up whatever you are takig on the internet. And make sure you ask questions. And if your doctor won't answer, get another doctor.

I reported the doctor who gave me more hydrocodone. And the hospital called me back and chatted nicely about it.

God bless.
Hugs,
Dema

Hi Red Sis, sorry that your feeling run down again, your in my prayers.
Have you tried visiting your local health store, natural remedies are so much better than prescribed drugs, but always seek advice from your health care provider before taking any incase you have an allergic reaction.
One i know of is (St Johns wort) it's good for relief to mild depression.
A herbalist gave some to me once and it seemed to help me, it didn't do me any harm i know that.
God bless you and yours Sis, love in Jesus from Bro True. *hug*

Seek out Nature Path Physicians. They don't use pharmaceutical drugs.

Many "natural" remedies do have side effects. If they are in the range called "supplements" they don't have to undergo medical testing. St. John's Wort will interfere with many meds, including birth control pills, and keep the meds from working.

Natural supplements need to be treated similarly to how a drug should be treated. Look it up. Try one new one at a time and pay attention to how you feel. And tell your doctor you are taking them when he asks about any medications.

I didn't say seek natural supplements or natural remedies. I said find a Nature Path Physician. That is a Doctor that does not use pharmaceutical drugs. They use mainly your diet to change you life for the good and if there is a remedy or supplement that will work they will know which ones and how to take them.

Hi Red assuming you are on meds for depression and NOTHING else is why i suggested St Johns wort,
i also recomended seeking advice from your health care provider, and you said you would see a medical professional first so thats cool.
from past experience with doctors, and others who have shared their views on natural remedies, it is unlikely that MANY doctors would advise any one to come off prescribed medication in favour of natural remedies,in my opinion as well as others it would be putting doctors out of a job, doctors serve a purpose but they don`t know everything.
So it is good that you are looking into it.
I pray that God will lead you to the path that`s best for YOU Sis, and i hope you start to feel better soon.
God bless you from Brother True *hug*

Our Sister is giving her burdens to the Lord, and she`s also sharing with her brothers and sisters.
Praise God that he is there and we have each other. *bravo*

Is that the same as a naturopath? I have talked with one, and am going to see her next month. I know I'm deficient in some vitamins. Taking /consuming more doesn't help, but maybe I'm not taking the right amount
Thanks guys for the support

Hi Bandit, You didn't mention what you're medication is for. (I'm assuming for anxiety or depression) Anxiety or Depression meds must be tapered down very, very slowly. Over the course of a 2 or 3 months if you want to avoid negative side affects. If you decide to do so, please see your Dr. to have his/her oversight of the process. One thing I would recommend to do simultaneously and then ongoing is to change your diet to a very healthy one. Make certain you remove sugar, sodas, and processed foods from your diet, and excess breads. Eat very healthy and take a good multivitamin. In winter months you may need extra Vitamin B's and D's, as the effects of low sunlight can cause depression, so visiting a Natural Dr. for a blood test to determine what your needs are would be good to do. Get plenty of fresh air and exercise, too. Lastly, and most importantly is to keep yourself spiritually healthy. If you maintain a healthy spiritual life, you will be better equipped spiritually to fend off depression and anxiety. Blessings, Julie Cast all you cares on Him for He cares for you.
