I have to say good bye to Ginger soon. The vet said I need to think of her dignity. She is falling a lot. Yes we all tear up when she falls especially when she cant stand back up. Because the arthritis in her hips and legs. She has been getting extra treats lately. A way of saying I will miss you. Tears flow from cubby and I and I just cant make the phone call just yet. She has seemed to forget who we are and walks and walks and walks. What the vet said is dementia. I think she is going to wear the floor out. Our ever so gentle Ginger has nipped at a few people. Grumpy from the pain I suppose I would be nippy too.

Ginger has begun meeting cubby at the door when he comes home and allowing me to pet her, leaning in as if it means as much to her as it does to me. These are things she use to do but stopped and became "grumpy."

Ginger entered heavens gates today. I prayed for God to take her as He seen fit. She fell asleep in my arms and took her last breath while laying on my lap. God is so very good. I've cried all day, but I have so much to be thankful for and through Him I have a future with not only Ginger but all my loved pets and, friends, and family.

Thank you all. *hug* Today I returned to the last place I saw Ginger alive. I cried a bit. But I was there this time for Ollie. His little nubbin for a tail bleeds when it's bumped. He had a pre-surgery visit to the vet so she can plan on what procedure needs to be done. She will have to cut the bone off the end of his little nubbin he has for a tale and sew the skin over it. It looks like someone just cut his tale off. Pour fella. While there he has to have a benign tumor removed.

Summit has joined the family. We have had him for a few weeks. He is a one year old boxer/pit mix. So we are told. We are still trying to get evidence of his shot record so he doesn't have to get them all over again. He wears Ollie out so I don't have to. :) And he is a snuggler! He insists on sleeping in my bed and UNDER the covers. Silly pooch. ;)

Reading your posts about your love for your pets, I am so struck by the thought that animal lovers truly understand what care and love God put into all creation, not just humans. Too many think they are disposable commodities, instead of the wonderful companions God intended them to be. Right from the start there were domestic animals, created so man wouldn't be alone entirely.
I think about what it must have taken for God to kill some of His innocent animals so Adam and Eve would be 'covered'. Until this, there was no death in the garden. Two beautifully created, purely innocent animals were sacrificed by God to provide cover for man's sin.
What more can I say. Man and animals were linked forever.
Thanks Pine, for your devotion to creation.

Wow Kim. I just read this. Never thought of the depth God may of felt when He killed two deer to cover Adam and Eves sin. I know God loves all His creations.

Ollie has to go out a lot to pee. I am wondering if he has diabetes. Not sure how to tell. Another thought is that his water supply is shut off much of the day as the little kids will play in it. I try to let the dogs go to their water a few times a day. They usually wont go if I don't go with them but I can't so they go in turn around and come back out.

Summit was shut in my bedroom one day for probably an hour. Ollie sat beside the bedroom door till he fell asleep there. They have become real buds. Oh did I ever share that I have a second boxer named Summit? He's a year old. He's a hyper little fella. Well little being 50 pounds. Ollie towers him. Summit sits so close to us he's nearly sitting on us. Same with when he sleeps. I love it. I sleep better when summit is near and I am not as anxious when he sits so close to me.

Summit is white with brown spots and Ollie is brown with white spots. :)
