Hip Surgery
Greetings my brothers and sisters in Christ,
Please remember my son, Keeper Of The Light, in your prayers.
Doctor says his right leg bone slips out of his hip socket when he walks.
On Monday, July 8th, he will have the surgery. He will be in
the hosp. for about a week. Then laid up at home for another
5 weeks. I suspect the recovery will be the hardest part for him
as he is an active 14 yr old.
Thank you for your prays.

Re: Hip Surgery
Thanks and return blessings a thousand times to all of you for your love and support.
Keeper of the Light is home now. We are struggling to navigate the transfers from the wheelchair to
the bed, couch, car, etc. If anyone has any hints, please pm me. I imagine the three of us must look like
a slap stick comedy trying to figure this out.
Keeper is doing well. He is already tired of the wheel chair and wants to go for walks.
He seems to be satisfied for a bit with a ride in the chair. Maybe now is a good time
to work on his fine motor skills doing crafts and making robots? And learning how
to fold the laundry too.
God Bless You all!
Timothy

Re: Hip Surgery
Hi, Timothy! Glad to hear he is doing well. Poor lil guy Hope he continues to get better and you all get adjusted to the aftermath of the surgery soon.
Would you please tell him that Skrubby and Flute think of him whenever we light the fire pit outside and that Skrubby has a new brush? He was GREAT at keeping the fire burning
God bless you all!

Praise Report! \o/
Doc says Keeper of the Light is doing remarkably well.
All the bruising is gone! Most of the swelling is gone!
The 9 inch incision is healing quite well.
He is learning to be independent in his situation.
He has learned to manuever his wheelchair through the house.
He likes to push his chair himself. He has learned by himself
how to transfer himself from his chair to the couch and back.
He was so proud of himself when he figured it out exclaiming with glee,
"I DID IT!" Mom gave him a high five and a big hug!
His pain has decreased considerably. We have been able to cut
the amount pain meds in half. He continues improving his skills
with his elbows and good leg in adjusting himself in bed and in his chair.
I read to him the messages we recive from all of you. It pleases him
that so many are thinking and praying for him. He expressed a verbal
connection last night as he lay in bed about to fall asleep. He said,
"I pray for them and they pray for me." Then he fell asleep.
Keeper doesn't often verbalize his "connections". And when he does...
well, I just give thanks and praise to God! \o/
Thank you, everyone, for your support, encouragement and prayers.
God bless you all!

Re: Hip Surgery
More Praise Report:
Keeper of the Light continues to improve.
Now down to one, non narcotic, pain pill a day.
He has regained much of his strength. He is
challenging himself to be more independant.
He is half way thru this process of healing.
He must remain off his right leg so his hip
heals properly. This is becoming a challenge
as he is feeling better with each day and
wants to do more.
He is doing most of the work when transfering
himself to and from his wheelchair. Mom reports
he made it up the wheelchair ramp all by himself
yesterday. One of the benefits of his situation
is the upper body strengthening he is receiving
from doing most of the work. Another benefit
is the brain exercising as he has been problem
solving much on his own with most of his experiences
with the wheelchair.
Keeper is an awesome kid. We are well pleased with him.

Praise Report:
Keeper saw the doctor on Monday. His bones have healed well. He can now go for therapy to strengthen
his right leg and hip. He got a bit ahead of things and tried to stand on it. He fell. He is ok but it was
a learning experience. We are doing a little exercising with him at home and using a walker to help
support himself while transferring from seat to seat. Its been a long summer for him. He is looking
forward to returning to school and comparing scars with his teacher who had knee surgery over the summer.
Thank you, everyone, for you prayers and support. I have read him all your posts and PMs.
He was touched by them.
God bless you all.
