Homemade Buttermilk Ice cream
I made the icecream with the buttermilk I got from the butter, I made from the whipping cream at walmart
I found a simple recipe online. I made it without an ice cream maker so you have to keep it in the freezer and whisk it every 20 minutes for like the entire day. It turned out soooo yummy. My 9 yr. old daughter said it was the best icecream she ever had. She told me "I have to learn to make cake so I can make an icecream cake using the homemade cake and icecream" which was very sweet since she is my biggest critic when it comes to making homemade things. If it's not store bought she for some reason looks at it like it's diseased.
Anyone ever attempted making an icecream cake?

Re: Homemade Buttermilk Ice cream
The only ice cream cake I've ever made was an angelfood that i hollowed out a ring thru thr middle of ther cake, all the way around, (like a ring inside a ring), then I put softened strawberry ice cream in it frosted it with cool whip, and froze it. But I think you're looking more for a Dairy Queen style thing...again, Mr. Google should know.
It's good you are teaching your kids about natural food choices. Don't be too discouraged about the criticism...they're kids, and kids change the easiest of anyone! My daughter began teaching her daughter about smart food choices and what helps the body stay healthy (important if you want to play sports well, feel good, sleep well, etc.) when my granddaughter was six, and now at twelve, she likes the healthy choices better. Keep at it, it pays off! Your children's attention spans, sleep patterns, and health will benefit greatly! God expects us to take care of our bodies as well as our spiritual health.
I'm a fan of what you're doing!
