Cain and Abel
I researched Cain and Abel and here is what I found: Cain was a worker of the Land and I believe he poured his heart into the earth and worked hard. Abel was a Shepard and also worked very hard. When it came time for the sacrifice, Abel offered a lamb (the best of the sheep) while Cain offered up the best of his crops. God refused the crop sacrifice and accepted the lamb. Cain killed Abel. That's the story.
I have heard this story and read this story many times but never really thought about "why" Cain's sacrifice was refused by God.
My conclusion of the story: The sacrifice had to be "blood", that is why Jesus had to die on the cross for us, it had to be the best and it had to be blood.
My problem: I don't want to be Cain: working harder and not smarter. I am like that - I will work harder than anyone, I will take care of everything - so it is done right, but is my labor in vain? I don't want to be Cain. I feel sorry for Cain because I understand his working so hard only to be refused. ( I understand why he was refused). Do you think he knew it had to be a blood sacrifice?

Hello Remnant
God bless you this day.
I know it is easy to believe that Cain's sacrifice was rejected because it was not a blood sacrifice, however, I don't know that to be accurate. Up to that point in the Bible, there is no mention that there needed to be a blood sacrifice, and Cain and Abel's offerings were gifts unto God to honor Him. I think it was more a matter of heart intent...purity of heart. Abel gave of the first fruit of his flock and he gave from his heart, wanting to thank The Lord. Whereas, I get the impression that Cain maybe just threw together some of his crops, and perhaps his heart was begrudging even doing it.
Jude 1:11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
From the scripture above, it implies that Cain was greedy. An heart that is greedy is contrary to a righteous heart.
Whereas, in the book of Hebrews, it describes Abel's gift/offering as given by faith and from an righteous heart.
Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Also, ...I John 3:11-12 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. (12) Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
Did you notice, that verse 11 speaks of "love one another" and immediately following in verse 12 "Not as Cain" -- meaning Cain did not walk in love, and his works (offering/sacrifice) were not from an loving heart, therefore, his works evil.
So Remnant, whether you work harder or smarter is not the issue, in regards to the story of Cain. Perhaps the appropriate question we all need to ask ourselves is...Do I give from an heart of love, or not?
God bless and keep you.
In Christ Jesus' love,
Sister Mack

Re: Cain and Abel
Sister Mack,
Of course, I researched on the internet and did not get the complete story. I should have researched the Bible to find the related scriptures in the other books of the Bible. I know that but did not apply it, did not even think about it! What a blessing you are.
With the other scriptures it completes the story. This makes me feel much better about my praise and prayer life.
Thank you,
with our love for Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior!

Hello Remnant a.k.a. Sister D (((hugs)))
God bless you this day.
God and His Word are so Good!!! Thank You Jesus!!!
It truly is good to see you again, Remnant. I know you must be so very busy with your new Gift Shop -- working lots of hours. I remember opening a business with my hubby many years ago, requiring 12-16 hour days, and sometimes 7 days a week. It is easy to work ourselves into a tailspin, so be sure to spend precious time with The Lord, and rest in Him.
I know you love The Lord, and that you read and gobbled up the Truth shared in the CCCC 14/Day Study, as well as The Spirit of Truth Study, on this site, a while back, but if you can make the time, I think you'll be equally blessed by the Many Called Few Chosen Study. Here is the link: http://www.christianityoasis.com/ManyCa ... /Forum.htm
In any event, I hope you'll stop by occasionally and let us know how you are doing. We care about you, Remnant. (((hugs)))
Prayers are rising to our Lord in the name of Jesus on your behalf. May God's will be done.
God bless and keep you, Remnant.
Love,
Sister Mack

Re: Cain and Abel
Sister Mack,
Thank you for remembering me. I will take you up on the "Many Called, Few chosen". One day I will meet you and I will know you. I had a dream/vision once that I went to Heaven and saw so many Christians and I said "There's Sister ??? and there's Sister .." I knew them. I believe I will know you too even if we never meet face to face on this earth.
Only one other vision in my life once when I was praying in the spirit and worshiping by myself: I was in Heaven and it was not the beauty seen by the naked eye, it was the love of God that FILLED my soul and heart, total PEACE. It was beautiful.
Makes me want to cry - cry for those who don't know Jesus, for those who have turned down the Love of Jesus, cry for the human race - those who have already died (Maybe God will make a way for no one to be in Hell) and for myself as I want to see Jesus, I want to sit at his feet, I want to praise and rejoice with the Heavenly Congregation!
So I know that I will know you.
My love in Jesus Christ

Hello Remnant (((hugs)))
God bless you this day.
Isn't God amazing how He allows us to get to know one another and to love one another, without having met face to face!!! I agree with you, we will know one another in Heaven. \o/ \o/ \o/ Praise You Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Remnant, your post brought sweet tears to my eyes. Thank you so very much for sharing.
My heart also weeps for people to come to know Him. It is a type of mourning, because we remember the time when we did not know Him and how empty life was. Thank You Lord for Your love, for Your saving grace and for the hope we have in You.
I'm excited you are going to read the Many Called Few Chosen (MCFC) Study, and I hope you will share your journal as you journey.
Prayers continue to rise for you, Remnant. May God's blessed will be done.
God bless and keep you.
Love,
Sister Mack
