called to be a full time home-maker?
I would appreciate prayer or advice on this issue please
I am married to a Christian man who is wonderful. He's getting on a bit and works part -time nowadays.I don't think he could cope with any more hours. He's trained as a professional, but the industry doesn't want a kind, gentle and conscientious professional. They want fast, ambitious, ruthless younger men really. The job my husband does now doesn't pay very well - but that is fine. I work part-time in another not too well paid job. Between us we pay the bills with a little left over each month. We rent a tiny house and run a very old car between us. Generally I feel very blessed. My problem is that in my heart I yearn to be a full time home-maker, looking after my husband, home and helping one grown-up son who is staying with us and needs extra support. If we lost my wage, after paying the rent on our tiny house (very cheap rent) we wouldn't have enough to even cover the water and electric bills, let alone food. So my heart longs to be at home and I have even felt God say to me to say goodbye in my spirit to the people I work with (Did I imagine it?) I feel confused. Maybe God doesn't want me to be full time home. Maybe He does. I want to obey His calling to me - but I don't know what He's saying! This has gone on for many months. He doesn't speak to my husband about this issue, our circumstances don't change. I don't want to take a wild step of faith if I don't know what God is asking me to do. I wonder if you could pray for some sort of breakthrough in my situation. Thanks for listening

Re: called to be a home-maker?
Hi there!
Let wisdom speak!
Everyone is called to be a homemaker. This is a duty that has to be done.
Be careful as to what God wants you to do and what you want to do.
This has been my past experience sis.
Love in Him,
Real

Thanks for replying. I'm not quite sure what you mean. I am a home-maker of course, but I'm talking about full-time home-making.

Hi,
What i was meaning is having a job in today's economy is a blessing.
Also, financial problems are a biggie for a married couple.
Hope this helps ya.
Luv In Christ,

Hello Listening heart
I must say , this is a bit of a toughy for me to respond to , not as much as not knowing what to say , or of having a difficulty to share what I know through my own experience (as far as leap of faith is concerned) . However , I would pay a closer attention to "My heart yearns for" , for if it is Christ that is dwelling in there , and by coupeling that with the "I heard " - (now please allow me to remind you that this is EXACTLY what happened to me a while ago , and that I am ONLY speaking through that and , not , necessarily suggesting or not suggesting you do the same) - , the one thing I do suggest though is to discuss this further , with Him , husband , here with others , for it seems you have a lot of weight on your shoulders to carry alone . Consider prayers already gone up .
Luv ya

Thank you both. Real, I will continue to check with God whether this is truly what he wants for me. Thank you vahn - wise advice which has helped me. Thanks to anyone else too who have prayed for me. I do feel more at peace since last night. (Here in the UK it's 9.30am now). I'll continue to discuss this with Him, with my husband and also here.
Thanks once again
Thanks once again
