Step 4: Forgiving Yourself

Postby Faithandlove » Fri Nov 04, 2011 9:28 am

I have to admit, this step took me by surprise! It's not hard for me to forgive others, even when the charge against me was completely false and damaging. But to forgive myself? Ok...........(trails off in thought)

Well, I have to go to work today and face the injustice that was done against me. My stomach hurts.

I don't know why, but, most of us have trouble with forgiving ourselves.
Someone a while back told me that it was ok for me to be wrong occasionally.
We are not perfect by no means.
Do your best in all things and do not dwell on your negative thoughts.

Sister,

Forgiving oursleves is very hard. The enemy of souls loves to tell us that His grace is sufficient...for everyone but us. Truth is, He died for you, too. It wasnt done half way. It was and is complete. No amount of beating yourself up or working for His forgiveness leads to His forgiveness. It IS His free gift to us and the whole reason behind dying for us. Its not about what we've done to "make up for it"..It is ALL about what Jesus has done for us...to give us life. It is all about His love for us. We love Him because He loves us so much. If He had to die for you alone, He would have. Its time to let go and apply His word and sacrifice to your life. Knowing the things He has forgiven us for keeps us humble and reminds us of His love and Grace. Shame and guilt, however, is a tool the devil uses and serves to hinder Christ's truth in our lives and makes a mockery out of His sacrifice for us. Self-abuse over our sins that have already been forgiven is like saying His gifts of mercy and grace are not enough. Thats a hard truth. His Grace IS sufficient for you. Accept His love and mercy for you. He loves you in spite of everything you have done. We are not good...or perfect, but His love that covers us, is.

God bless you, my sister. Work on forgiving the injustices done to you at work. Pray about it and ask the Lord to help you to forgive. They are just as in need of His grace as we are. He loves you so very much. You are so precious to Him.

Love you, sister in Him.

In Jesus,
love momo
James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.
