Hello Everyone,
I am hoping you can give me some advice please? I feel that I want to attend a church but don't know where I will fit? I live in a rural community so my choices are a bit limited.
I have been researching on the web and most organised churches disapprove of divorce or seem very narrow in their beliefs.
What would be right for me? I am really enjoying the worship CD's I have that are contemporary music, what type of church will be like that.
I am enjoying this week so much and don't want to slip away from God again in a few weeks when I lose my focus.
I would be really grateful for some advice and guidance.
Thank you and God Bless you all that have answered and supported me since finding this site

Hello Jayney
Welcome to Oasis. Glad you are here.
I suggest you look at a churches doctrinal statement to make certain they believe in Jesus Christs death on the cross for the forgiveness of sins.
Since over 50% of marriages end in divorce you won't be the only one in any church that is divorced.
May God direct you in finding what you are seeking. God bless you.
Sunday nights at 8pm eastern time you'll find an online church in the chatroom. Hope to see you there.

Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.

Re: hELLO
Well, Pine pretty much said it all.
Divorce has hit almost every church. There are non-denominational churches that attract large numbers of people in urban areas - but those aren't usually in the more rural ones. The issue with non-denomination churches is that there is frequently one man or one family. And just like Solomon got distracted in his old age - well, the non-denominational don't have the checks and balances to prevent that.
Also, within denominations, there is a lot of variation. You can ask if there is a contemporary service. That sounds like what you would like.
What I did once was call churches and ask them what a person needed to do to belong to the church. When I got to one that said, "Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior" that's the one I picked. What is sad is that there were quite a few calls before that one. But, my family and I did attend that one for over a decade.
Some people are so intent on not doing anything wrong that they hardly have any time left to do anything right.
It is difficult finding a church. But having the support is vital. I would feel very lonesome without one.
