My "Muck-a-Luck"

Postby Daisy50 » Fri Apr 29, 2011 4:32 pm

"Muck-a-Luck" was one of a dozen nicknames I called our dog, "Lucky". He was a 7 year old Bichon who came to use after hubby couldn't find him a new home..he'd run away from previous owners and ended up getting hit by a truck(which is how hubby found him...he'd seen it happen).

3 weeks ago he went in for dental surgery. He had to have some teeth removed. His mouth was healing well, he was getting his appetite back....

A month or so ago he jumped off our bed(as he'd done dozens of times), but his feet slipped and he landed on his shoulder. So while I've been taking care of his dental needs since the surgery, the pain he felt in his shoulder was not getting better. He limped when he walked, and some nights would cry out in his sleep.

I have spent a lot of sleepless nights holding him in my arms, praying over him(I read the Bible to him and our other 2 dogs every night). I continued to ask God to heal him....

Last night, I felt that something was going to change. This morning he was no better..he'd slept almost all thru the day and night, only waking up long enough to take a few morsels of food from the palm of my hand.

He went outside, and couldn't "go potty". So I called the Vet, explained the situation. They said "bring him in". Dr. Wyman met us at the front door, then took us into one of the exam rooms. He checked his shoulder...and said to me "well, it could be one of two things", and I said, "what?" and he replied, "either arthritis, or cancer."

Dr. Wyman took him for xrays...came back in and said, "My worst fears have been confirmed, your lil' boy has bone cancer, and it has spread to his lungs." He showed me the xray. Lucky's lungs were full of cancer. I asked him "how long does he have?" Dr. Wyman replied, "It's just a matter of time."

I called hubby(who is on the road..down in Florida), we conferenced the call and made the decision to have our "Muck-a-Lucks" put to sleep.

I am sad, but I am glad he is no longer in pain......We will always have good memories of him.

I pray if pets go to Heaven, that my lil' guy is right there with Jesus....and being cared for, as only HE can do. That lil dog deserves the best wings that he can be fitted for. He was ours but for a short while...but he is HIS forever.

Heaven's got a hand-full now that "Muck-a-Luck" is there...He will keep them on their toes.

I just pray for HIM to heal our broken hearts.

daisy *hug* so sorry to hear of the loss of your little sweetiepie. Mine died many years ago and there isnt a day that I dont think of his adorable little face and all the funny and cute and mischievous things he used to do. They sure do have a way of getting into your heart and staying there for always.

God bless you daisy, God does indeed heal broken hearts *hug*

Thanks Lizzieeeee

I'm sorry for your loss too. *hugss*

I know what u mean...Today I was talking with my neighbor and I was able to laugh when I told her how I'd tease "Muck-a-Luck" by telling him, "I'm going to have you turned into a purse..we'll have a lil' handle attached to your back"(because he loved to be carried around). She got a chuckle out of that too. It felt good to share a funny moment with someone.

Yes, God does indeed heal broken hearts...Amen

God Bless

TY FOX!

I AM SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS TOO.

I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD THAT "TIME HEALS ALL WOUNDS".

I KNOW IT WILL BE AWHILE BEFORE I AM COMPLETELY OVER "MUCK-A-LUCK'S" BEING GONE, BUT I AM COMFORTED KNOWING THAT HE DID NOT SUFFER FOR LONG.

I THANK GOD FOR GIVING HIM THE TIME HE DID WITH US. HE BROUGHT MY HUSBAND AND ME A LOT OF JOY AND LAUGHTER.

THANK YOU FOR PRAYERS. THEY ARE HELPING THE HURT GO AWAY AND ENABLING US TO MOVE FORWARD IN OUR LIVES.

TO GOD I GIVE ALL THE GLORY AND THE THANKS OF ENTRUSTING MY HUBBY AND ME WITH BEING ABLE TO BE "MUCK-A-LUCK'S" CARETAKERS WHILE HE WAS ON THIS EARTH A SHORT TIME.

THANKS FOR YOUR KIND WORDS.

GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND...
DAISY

Thanks Pine! *hug*

I'm doing much better today. \0/

"Joy comes in the morning".

It took a couple of days, but I am joyful today because I am now able to think of the good times and laughter that "Muck-a-Lucks" brought into our world.

I thank God for entrusting us with "Muck's" care-that lil' guy knew he was loved.

I also thank God for everyone who has shown compassion in regards to our grief.

We know he is in Heaven along with our other dogs..No doubt about that! I am at peace in believing that to be so.

God Bless you!
