EASTERFEST 2011
Festivities begin Monday, April 18th and conclude Easter Sunday, April 24th.

For those you who are new to the Oasis family, Easterfest is a week long celebration focused on the events leading up to the RESURRECTION of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!!!

What better way to celebrate this season of Renewal that to hang with HIS awesome O Family?

All regularly scheduled Chat Programs are suspended for this week as we shift our focus to this very specific time. 3 (1 hour long) programs run from 8-10 PM EST each night

Now.... the "Your Help" part...
We seek ideas for inclusion in the festivities and hosts to bring these programs to Life. Please SHARE!
You can either PM me (click the "PM" button under my name on the right of this screen) or reply to this forum and we will be in touch.

Here are some ideas brought to light thus far....

Watch "The Passion of Christ" (in segments perhaps via Youtube clips and discuss each) (Pine's idea, Thank You Sis!)

"Life Brought... God Blessed" - a program where we come together to share seemingly "awful" events (storms) in the past year that God has transformed into great Blessing in our lives. Examples: Loss of Job/Better Pay; Major Health Concern/Renewed Faith... etc. (Breezy's idea, Thank You Sis!)

Pick a Parable
Washing of Feet
Judas Iscariot
Trial
Crucifixion
Resurrection
Return of Jesus
Easter & Me (memories of Easter Past)

Praise and Worship


None of these events can take place without HIM through You! We are in need of dedicated souls willing to step out and serve Him by filling in as hosts for some of these programs. If you are intersted in doing so, please PM me and I will send you the Easterfest calendar info to descern what He is calling you to do.

Please don't be afraid of hosting if you never have before.... we are family.
If you are concerned, please PM me and we will find a time for you to team up with someone for a "run through" before your program so you feel more comfortable!

Hey Lani I think I can handle hosting the Passion of The Christ video chat. If this is what you were asking me the other day, please forgive me I misunderstood. My mind isn't thinking clearly.

Problem is isn't it a few hours long? So an hour long slot isn't going to work. Perhaps a Friday night or Saturday would be best for this program.

The thought.... since it is a rather long, deeply emotional movie... was that it would be best to break this down into a few sessions. Doing so would also allow time for discussion and reflection.

I did a quick check on youtube and it seems most break it into 12 parts... approx. 10 minutes each

Additionally, to ask one to sit for 3 hours in one session will limit who is able to participate in such... this is of course, just my opinion.

I am sure God will lead you in this sis... let me know what you decide.

Below is a list of possible program ideas... and time slots available. If you wish additional information, please PM me and I will share what I can... but please know you, as host, are encouraged to share as led by the Holy Spirit. Him through you is awesome, ALWAYS! Each instrument will "play" a different tune, That is what makes bein HIS tool awesome!

If ya feel led to serve in this capacity, please let me know program title or idea and what time you wish as soon as ya can as to avoid people choosing the same ones.

Lent "Sacrifices" - what we "give up" for Lent and why
Worldly Easter Traditions - Coloring Easter Eggs, The Easter Bunny, Baskets of Candy uh huh have fun with it!
Pick a Parable (1 so far) - a discussion on one of the many Parables Jesus taught through and how it pertains to life today.
Washing of Feet - take a look at why Jesus did so and why Paul was reluctant... then wanted more.
Return of Jesus- visiting many following His resurrection, who He appeared to, why and what occurred each time
Games (1 so far) - Word Scramble, Trivia, Who/What am I, etc. All centered around the Life, Death and Resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

Topics shared above are Just IDEAS If God leads you in another direction, please don't hesitate to share your idea! We wish to include all who are called, so if it is in your heart, please share!!!
