input needed
I have a situation that i am trying hard to figure out a good passage in Bible. Lemme explain the situation. I know someone in prison doing life without parole. Meaning he will die in prison. I am writing him from time to time and i wanted to copy a page of Bible (NLT) to see if he would want one. I have no idea what it's like in prison or if he would even be interested. I want to send something really easy to understand. Even though he is like 32 yrs old, he never even finished eigth grade. He just is not intelluctually even average functioning. I cannot see him understanding KJV or NKJV even. I think he just might be able to understand NLT. I almost was gonna send him a children's Bible but then everyone there would make fun of him, but i say that just to give ya'll an idea of his level of functioning. So,,,, am throwing this out to see what kind of responses i get. I mean knowing you are going to spend rest of your life in prison... what might be a good passage to hear? One that would be like ok, i wanna know more..... and i wanna show how much God loves him no matter what or who he has been. So,,,, anyone got any suggestions?????

aww goldie miss u
well, why not print out a few of the studies here and send him those along with a bible, and he can look up the related scriptures. There are some great topics covered in the Christian Walk Studies section. Perhaps you can start there
In my opinion, John 3:16
Love u girlie. God bless u.

Hi Goldie. I like Lizzies idea of sending some studys found here.
Some prisons don't allow religious material from my understanding. Printed material like the studys are fine but some won't let books go in if they say bible or bible study, ect. They don't look at the letters or papers though. So a study printed out should be fine.
If you haven't asked him if they would allow him to have a bible perhaps you might want to ask first. You'd be very disappointed to go through all that work just to have them not allow him to have it. I hope the place he is in allows bibles.
Just my thoughts.
Love ya!

Hi Goldie sis
I think God has already led ya in this decision.
NLT is a worthy choice as it is God's Word... Seeds of HIS truth will be planted and in time such will grow.
Later, if he seeks to grow and learn more, another translation could be considered
Will keep this young man in prayer as well.
Luv ya Sis
