Transitions
It is often hard for my son to go from one thing to another.
We often need to find ways to help him to move onto something else.
One way is to create a little picture booklet showing the process.
This way he can see what is going to happen and when.
He learns what to expect and how to approach the next thing to do.
We did this for a hospital stay a few years ago.
He identified with the I.V. being put into his hand and the
bag of water dripping through the tube and into his hand.
He handled it very well.
It showed a picture of the Activity Room for the patients.
It showed some of the activities they do in the room.
That room became on of his favorite places to go.
It showed about taking meds and meals and tests, etc...
He could tell what was coming up next by the booklet.
We did one for his Serial Casting for his foot and ankle.
This also worked out well.
This got me thinking about other things in life.
What kind of transitions do we go thru?
Work?
Marriage?
Budget changes?
Travel?
Moving?
Wouldn't it be nice to have a flow chart showing the way to go.
Or a check list showing whats next.
A picture is worth a thousand words they say.
How about a picture book showing a move?
A picture book showing one's job description at place of employment?
A reluctance, or inablilty, or difficulty to change when change is a must.
We each have our own challenges. How can we help others to recognize
when change it is a must and how to do it?
How to change from a baby christian to the varieous stages of maturity in
our walks? Are there stages, or are people led into different levels in
different patterns? Anything predictable?
Mostly just pondering.

transitions:
Sometimes having a focal point helps.
Some like music and need a radio or tape player or cd player to play
familiar or comforting tunes, or movie or games.
Some like a special place to go like a park, kitchen table, landing on the stairs, workshop, computer...
For some it might be a friend, relationships, love, confirmation.
A place to seek God.
No matter where one goes, what changes one must adjust to,
what obstacles one must over come... Where is there as place one
can find to keep themselves grounded, Focused, moving forward with
stability, familiarity, centeredness... in a place where one can feel loved?
A place where they can feel valued?
Was it piglet who said,
"Pooh?"
Pooh answered, "Yes pigglett?"
"Nothing" said piglet, "Just wanted to know you were."

Your posts remind me of how God is gentle, full of compassion, love, and cares deeply for each one and their needs, even the struggles that may at times seem silly.
Thank you for being a beacon of light in this dark world.
We're going to make it!
Thank you for being a beacon of light in this dark world.
We're going to make it!
Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.
