some of you have probly seen this in the news, but most probly not.

Both the House and Senate are on their weeklong Presidents Day recess, which leaves about a week before the current stopgap spending measure expires on March 4. It's unclear whether that is enough time for Senate Democratic leaders, who have said they agree spending can be cut, and House Republicans leaders to strike a deal on the short-term extension.

Failure to put a spending package in place -- either a long-term deal or a short-term extension -- would lead to a shutdown of the federal government.

what it means? well government employees - my hubby, et al - won't get paid. Government assistance programs will shutdown. Etc. they will get back paid for the time they work durng the closure, but not until after the resolution. and they hafta work. ppl in admin positions dont hafta work and they are the ones that enter payroll and cut checks...including tax refunds...if u havent filed your taxes yet...the govt will shutdown March 4th if no resolution is made by then.

i believe that all things work for good for those that love the Lord. i love the Lord. He has stood faithful through everything with me. I seek God's perfect will.

the house and the senate have a bill they are passing between them, each side refusing to budge on the issues within the bill that they don't agree with. it's $60 billion worth. congress is on break until Feb 28th. that's next monday. they will have 5 work days to fix this or the govt will shut down. they can agree to put an extension in place again, but we have been on extensions since last september. this is the 2011 fiscal that they cant agree on. we are running on the 2010 fiscal still...they havent even started the 2012 fiscal yet.

something has to be compromised. every program with federal funding will stop, federal admin staff will be furloughed, no federal employees will be paid during the closure. civilian businesses that rely on their federal contracts - dell, lockheed, boeing, et al - will not get paid.
