I have found that when God teaches us, He will try to teach us easy, and then if we don't get it, the lesson usually comes harder. In the easy method, frequently I will hear what I need to hear from a lot of different sources. I like to listen to Joyce Meyer. One item that I really needed to hear that she reinforced is also in lesson 9 on this counselling site.

Changing takes time. And more specifically - God needs to change you. You just need to both give Him permission and also clear the space so that He can make the changes. If you can learn to check in with God often - find small periods of peace. (Even in the john if that's all you've got.) and try to just think of God and your blessings in a peaceful way several times a day - and otherwise aim in the right direction - God WILL get you there.

God is in peace. When we are trying so hard that we don't have peace - we are being counterproductive.

Sometimes, we just have to let God do it and let Him take the time it takes. And sometimes He teaches us by letting us skin our knees.

This is already long so I'll stop. I have a lot of thoughts about my own journey right now.
