steps again....day 6

Postby sbennett » Thu Dec 09, 2010 1:40 am

 Not a good day today really. And this step is just hard....it is my biggest battle. I know I must strengthen my mind with the truth. I know the truth I really do. But, sometimes my mind is like a roll a dex on crack. It goes right to the thoughts I do not want...the memories...the images of places events. The "safe and happy" place...BIGGEST LIE OF ALL! and then the feelings start....sad, missing, guilt. Why does my spirit listen to all this junk. I need to memorize the "whatsoever" verse ...Phillippians 4:8...I need to just be able to spit that one out at any moment.

I really am going to do the miracle grow chart...I have the time to do at least 5 activities and I will keep a chart. *Pray* I am praying that God takes away the lies still in my mind that affect my spirit and that the miracle grow activities bring me closer to truth!

His grace is sufficient for us dear. He knows full well the battle we face daily.

Every time you are tempted and choose to follow Him that is a victory. So if you fail 10 times but have one victory, then praise God!! You had a victory. Focus forward on what you want to do. Not back on what you did do.

Someone sent me a cute little email the other day said something to the effect of you know why the windshield is so big, but the rear view mirror is so small. It's more important to have a visual of where you are going than where you came from.

These charts will help you see where you are going. Remember they are not created to bind you, but to help you find freedom. Take it easy. Baby steps. :) Enjoy this WITH the Lord. He is good. And He loves ya! So do I!

Benny, in the darker moments of life, I remind myself to smile and be still and know that God is still God, no matter what my circumstances. Not always the easiest thing, but dont allow yourself to remain in the dark, go to your place of hope and remind urself of the fact that God is with you and for you.

I wonder if you know how big of an encouragement and inspiration you are to me and others here :)

Its always so cool to see that even when we dont have it all together ( who does really), God can use us to be a light for others :)

the HOLY SPIRIT works with us to renew our minds, but we have to give HIM something to work with. we MUST meditate on HIS word so that it becomes a rhema word or living word in us. yes, u must think on those things "whatsoever" in phil 4:8, but commit yourself to memorize 5 scriptures per day. that will not only occupy your mind so that you cannot dwell on sad things, but it will give the HOLY GHOST something to work with to transform your thoughts. let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. fill your mind with HIS word and HIS word will keep your mind. we have to cast down strongholds and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of GOD. this, my dear, is a choice; an act of the will. but HE promises to change you from glory to glory.
you'll make it, be encouraged
