Struggling with Emotions and Grief
Lately I have been struggling with my emotions. I did not realize I had not grieved when my father passed last June. When the date of his death came in June and his birthday in July, I found myself in this downward emotional spiral. It has caused me to be unmotivated at work. I am behind in my work. But on top of my father passing with cancer in June, I learned that my pastor, who is also my Godfather has cancer. Since November of last year I have been acting pastor at the church. This past Saturday, my pastor swapped time for eternity. The services were yesterday. Today, I have not been able to stop crying. I have not gotten out of the bed. I feel overwhelmed and it seems like everything that could go wrong has been going wrong.
I know that God is able and that this too shall pass. But it seems like it has become difficult for me to bounce back. Everyone leans on my, but I feel like I have reached a total breaking point. Is there anyone that can identify with what I am saying. I know when I am weak...I am strong. I know the joy of the Lord is my strength...but these emotions and feelings of sadness are lingering. I find a way all the time to ministry life to others...but I am trying to encourage myself in the midst of all of this.
Any suggestions?

Hello mzlady78, welcome to the Oasis! I totally can relate...I too am depended on by many, and I minister to many as well as I have a huge spirit of compassion, but at times the enemy will come after me and try and take my joy away...and it is at these times I feel I need support and encouragement from others. I know the truth that Jesus is the only one I really need...but the needs of being human is that we do need one another. So here you are at the Oasis...just where God has led you...and we are delighted to have you here.
I know that right now you are a tad grief stricken...but that's because the spirit of sadness has enveloped you because of the earthly loss of these two men in your life. Take a moment though and think on where they are and how wonderful it must be for them to be in the presence of the Lord. Then think about how one day you too will be joining them in His presence...and draw solace and comfort from this knowledge. May the Holy Spirit's comforting presence surround you with strength and peace.
We are here to listen, if you need to share more thoughts.
Praying for you.
Take care and God Bless

Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.

Hi mzlady,
I think it's perfectly reasonable to spend some time grieving and resting from the emotional losses you've suffered. I've always heard there are "cycles" of grief and it seems to be true that people will go through them a few times so I don't find it unusual that the recent loss of your friend has triggered renewed grief for the loss of your father.
I encourage you just to rest in the arms of the Lord, listening to praise music, finding comfort in His word, and in the knowledge that we'll all be together through eternity when our time here has come to a close.
Please come into the chatroom where we can pray with you and spend time together.
Lovin' Christ,
Splashi

Hello MzLady
God bless you this day, and welcome to Christianity Oasis.
I'm glad The Lord led you here, where you can receive comfort and rest, and nourishment for your soul.
Here is a link to some awesome Studies that I believe will help you in your recovery. The Studies are all Bible-based, leaning heavily on our Lord and Saviour. The first one on the list is a 14 Day Counseling Study. I've watched as many, many, many souls have benefited from this blessed Study -- myself included.

The other studies are shorter in length, but will bless your soul also -- allowing His Word to bathe you in love and peace.
I'm sending up prayers to our Lord, in the name of Jesus, on your behalf. God's blessed will be done.
God bless and keep you.
In Christ's love,
Sister Mack
