God Speaks in the silent language of my child, once more.

Hey y'all :)
Been a while since I posted on the lessons my son shares in just overcoming each day. No one can tell him what he can't do because he won't sit still long enough to listen.... wonder where he gets that fight? :)

Yep, you guessed it, God alone.. doctors, educational professionals, therapists, his father.. you name it, each has tried to define what he can and can't .. will or won't do or accomplish during his life here.

For those of you who do not know, my son (among many other "challenges") cannot "speak" in a audible voice, he uses sign language (though not deaf). Conversation is slow as I have to "say" each sign he uses... mostly so he can make sure I know what he is saying. :)

Today began as a normal day;

We woke up, I got ready for work while he ate breakfast. I left for work, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

Little did he know, a surprise was in store....

A "play date" at the park with one of his friends (who will be starting school tomorrow) had been planned.

They spent the day doing what little boys do best: running, yelling, swings, slides, hide and seek, and a picnic lunch with all their favorites! They returned to our house to say their goodbyes and later I returned from work.

Together once more, we sat to "talk" on the sofa, our favorite place to "catch up". I had news to share myself (once he finished) which I knew could only add to the excitement of the day.

A friend had visited me at work and given us tickets to the local carnival, ride passes included. This is a yearly event my little guy very much looks forward to but in truth, I wasn't sure how we could afford it this year. I handed him the envelope and immediately, he knew what was inside. He began to run around the living room... until he finally sat down and asked when we could go??? Schedules and weather considered we agreed on Saturday! Then our routine continued: went to the local "corner store" for his daily Popsicle..... the only reason he is willing to walk two blocks. Later he rode his bike in the yard, watched Veggie Tales on the computer, chased a bunny in our yard, looked for neighbors to visit, got the mail, etc. It was then decided to get PIZZA for dinner :)

What more could a lil boy (or his mama) ask for; it was an active, good, healthy day.

Now comes the light bulb :)

As we readied for his bedtime, we were reflecting on his day once more, reviewing all that had happened and picking out what he liked best in each moment.... finally (chuckling to myself guessing what he would choose and looking forward to the minute or two of quiet while he thought) I said "But what was your most favorite, best part of the day?"

Well without missing a beat my son turned to me, Eyes beaming brightly, he signed.....

"I woke up! "

Amen, ty Lord I said silently as my heart smiled.

What could I say? How humbling a statement... I sat in awwww of His wisdom through him once more.

I remain thankful to be entrusted with this lil soul and look forward to each new lesson to be learned.

God is SOO Good!!!

*hug*

Luv y'all
