The Blood of Jesus

Postby Guest » Sat May 08, 2010 1:01 am

I was in a prayer meeting at my church on Wednesday night. My Pastor told a story after a song was sung about The Blood of Jesus. And I need help in understanding this please.

He told of a time, that he had to go help a family that was actually attacked by a demon at 19H00 every night. First the children was hurt and then the parents. This pastor went there before 19H00 and when the time came, the demon arrived, but he stayed outside the house. The parents asked the pastor why the demon did not enter, the pastor replied that it is the Blood of Jesus that is keeping the demon outside. He went on to explain that the Blood of Jesus is protecting them now etc etc. When the pastor was leaving the parents asked the pastor to stay as they never felt so safe before. He told them it is the Blood of Jesus that is making them feel safe. Not once did the pastor acknowledge the Holy Spirit's presence, or authority in the whole situation. He was fixcated on the Blood of Jesus.

My problem is this:
- When he first said that the Blood of Jesus is keeping the demon outside

= I felt in my spirit that it is not so, as it is the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit inside of him, me, that give me the authority to withstand any demon, and not the the Blood of Jesus. Jesus never commanded us to do anything because of His Blood that was shed for us, or to ask the Father anything because of His Blood.
= The Bible say that the Blood of Jesus was shed to cleanse us from all unrighteousness as He was the Lamb of God, the Perfect Sacrifice!!!!
= But He said that in His Name will we cast out demons, lay hands on the sick and they will recover, raise the dead.
= It is in His Name, that we are to ask the Father anything and He shall give it us.
= It is the Holy Spirit that guide us, lead us, protect us!!!
= Never in the Bible did Jesus command his disciples to do anything with His Blood.

I have no problem with the Blood of Jesus, I am most grateful, for if it was not for the Blood of Jesus that was shed, I would not be here today. I am just convicted of the fact that the Blood of Jesus is being spoken of and "used" when the truth is that the Holy Spirit was given us to do all these things. We are taught by practice that we must plead the Blood of Jesus over ourselves, our cars, our homes, everywhere we go, we must not enter before pleading the Blood over us???

Am I wrong in this conviction? Please do not judge me, I am seeking the truth, as I really felt that the Holy Spirit brought this up in me.

Hi Aviljoen, good question.

First let me say without the blood of Christ, one could not have the Holy Spirit to lead and guide them. It's in Christ that the Holy Spirit works through us. Not downing the pastor but it would have been good to see him acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Let me remind you of a story in the Bible though.....Matt.8:28-34; Mark 5:2-20; Luke 8:26-39

As Jesus came unto the land there, the man who was posessed by so many demons, the demons cried out, saying, "What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not." then Jesus at that point said "Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit."

Point is the presence of Jesus was enough to scare them demons. So what happens when a person has been washed and cleansed by the Blood of Jesus, that blood runs through us for we are of Christ. YET, if we have the blood of Christ, then the Holy Spirit is present and has empowered us. A person can't have the Holy Spirit without Christ, visa versa, and one can't have Christ and the Spirit of God without the Father.

Hope this helps and i've explained this good enough. :)

God Bless you Aviljoen, nice to meet you and let me Welcome you to Christianity Oasis. :)

The Blood of Jesus

Postby Guest » Sat May 08, 2010 11:47 am

Hi Angeltears, thanks for the reply and the welcome. I am most grateful.

I do fully agree with you that without the blood the Holy Spirit cannot be given to us. However, I am still not sure, once we do have the Holy Spirit, where does the Blood come in then? What then is the purpose of the Holy Spirit if all we do is to trust in the Blood to cover, protect, make me feel safe? Why then did Jesus not say when He ascended to heaven that He left us His Blood? He did however say that He will send us the Holy Spirit who will lead us and guide us and reveal the Will of God to us?

So, I am not sure how then can I plead the blood of Jesus over me? The Holy Spirit in me, is the Authority of God in my life. The Holy Spirit is the One who speak to me, reveal, open the Word of God so that I can understand it. He leads me in God's perfect will for my life. How then can the Blood that Jesus shed, protect me?

Yes, Jesus was the perfect sacrificial Lamb, sent by God, to die and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, but Jesus gave no instruction to any of His disciples to plead His blood over them for protection, or anything for that matter. Where then do we get the leading to plead the Blood of Jesus over us, our cars, our homes etc?

I understand that if Jesus's blood was not shed, I would never be cleansed, but the Bible does not say anything beyond that?

I thank you again for your reply and I trust that we will chat again.

You and yours must have a wonderful weekend in Jesus.

Hi Aviljoen *Wave*

I wanted to welcome you to Christianity Oasis and let you know that no one here is going to judge you. Ask away brother. :)

I read your question but I'm not the type to get into words and names so I'm just going to share with you that I'm praising God that you believe in him, His son, and the Holy Spirit and are grateful for his blood shed on the cross.

Possibly the answer to the question is really just very simple. The blood is Christs, Christ is Gods son, the Holy Spirit is Gods spirit. The three are one so it's all from God which makes it all good. *dunno*

God bless and keep you.

Very thought provoking topic ... Thanks for sharing what was on your mind and heart.

I am in agreement with much of what you have shared, in particular the fact that many Christians are unaware of the importance of the Holy Spirit in their Christian walk.

As well as the blood of Jesus cleansing us from our sins.

I John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

I would like to bring up two points ...

Perhaps the pastor was associating the blood of a lamb being able to keep Death at bay at the time of the Exodus

Exodus 12:22-23 ... And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

And Jesus being the Lamb of God, the sacrifice for our sins ... Suggesting that if the blood of a lamb could keep the "destroyer'' away, perhaps the blood of Jesus could keep other spirits away.

Since blood was used to begin the old Covenant:

Exodus 24:8
And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

And the Blood of Jesus is the Blood of the New Covenant

Matthew 26:28
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

As Passover was a shadow of things to come.

One can learn more of this in this study:

http://www.christianityoasis.com/EndTim ... hadows.htm

I have not yet pondered and prayed on the depths of this ideology, nor do I have a belief one way or another, but it does seem to be one possible reason the pastor would have said it.

In addition ... Jesus did say that we were to partake of His blood:

John 6:53-56
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him

Spiritually speaking of course ...

But, many who heard did NOT understand ... There were many that walked away from Jesus because He made that last statement.

John 6:66
From that time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.

He repeated the request at the Last Supper

Matthew 26:27-28
And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

In fact, we are told to partake of the Spiritual blood in remembrance of Him ...

1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till He come.

It is within these verses that I believe harmony can be found:

John 6:53-56
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him

He who partakes of the Blood of Christ ... The Holy Ghost dwells within THAT House ... OUR Temple.

1 Corinthians 6:19
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

And the Spiritual Blood of Christ running thru the veins of our soul is like the blood on those posts ... The destroyers aint welcome in that which belongs to HIM.

The Holy Spirit sees to that ...

Another factor is that unless the family knows Jesus themselves, the blood covering won't last. They do need to know that Christ within them is stronger then what is out.
Chances are, they invited the demons in somehow and that also needs to be broken.

The Pastor should have talked more about Jesus as savior to the family that still feared so they could accept Him into their lives. Then they would be in control and not count on someone else.

Hello All,

*AngelYellow*
Blessings!

All your posts on the blood are tremendous and powerful. I just read your study on the blood C.O. Super! And Aviljoen, all, there is a post by David Wilkerson, that great Man of God of our day, on the Blood of Jesus also that does give more light on the Blood of Jesus as a covering against destruction. I know I can't give the link to it here, but perhaps you can find the time to search for it on the internet. Just type in The precious Blood of the Lamb on your MSN Bing internet browser and follow the links to you find the link with David Wilkerson's name on it.

Hi All,

*AngelYellow*
Blessings!

While I can't give you the link to David Wilkerson's teaching on the Blood of the Lamb, I can offer a quote from the article. In overcoming by the power of the blood Mr. Wilkerson writes,

"And they overcame him [the devil] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony..." (Revelation 12:11).

What is the word of the testimony? It is simply this: "I believe in the blood! I testify to the prevailing, overcoming power of the blood of Jesus -- and I proclaim its total victory!"

Great question on the blood AV...you've got me studying everything I can find on the net! Awesome!
