Christianity Oasis Forum

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

A step that cannot be reversed...

Postby Guest » Wed Mar 31, 2010 9:42 pm

I am not sure where I am being lead but my dream was very clear last night. I am at a point where I need to take a step that "cannot be reversed" and trust. Please pray for me, I struggle with 2 active alcohics in my family and I myself use food in much the same way. It has to stop. My weight is now the highest it has ever been. I am ashamed of how bad I have let this take hold of me. I am depressed. Was doing so well for a while, and now feel as though I have taken many steps backwards. I believe I need to step away from my family and just rest in Gods arms. My strength has been fading. I am so very lonely and yet I only have myself to blame. Far easier to "hide in my house" than to get hurt by people. I know this is a lie, I know it is a lie. I have to face this, and feel it to heal it. God help me please. I am on my knees to you. *help*

Hello Lydia

I'm vahn , an alcoholic (among "other" things) , since May of '99 , by the Grace of our Lord the Christ , I have not found it necessary to activate my addiction(s) once all over again . But , however , that , by all means does not mean that I won't either , that is why I have learnt , through the recovery steps , as long as I place my reliance on Him on a daily basis , I don't have to worry about it (going back) . As the title you chose for your post , I cannot reverse my addiction(s) but , our Lord will keep me in today and sustain me for today , and He definitely wants me for today .

We do have a 14 day (12 step) program here that I KNOW will guide you to be in the same "state" as I . It is called CCCC and it is the first blog on the main page , I strongly suggest to walk through those , to Freedom .

One more thing to remember also Lydia , we are not only powerless over our own addictions , we are also powerless over someone else's as well .
So first , let us see we ourselves get better first , then , through our own victory we will be better equipped to help the others , not before .

Hoping to see you at CCCC , I will walk with you every step of the way .

May God bless you , and keep you , until then .

In Christ , our Lord

Sis,
Reading your post, you admitted that you know that you are doing wrong by isolating. This will only deepen the depression. Only you and God can do this. We are responsible of how we feel. Discipline is a must. So is a decision is too. Like vahn said, we have no control of others.
The truth is, we have to work very hard at overcoming our problems.
We take it slow, One Day At A time.
It sounds you do not love yourself. I didn;t either for most of my life. BUT, I eventually figured out it was all my fault. I began to accept myself and try to to the right things daily. Sure I fall short. But I am more a t peace now than I have ever been. Had to suffer alot before I decided to take action.
God expects us to do our part. He gives us a free will to choose. We must choose what is best.
God opened a door for you to find us as many here truly care and want to see you smile and have peace.
At any time, you can log on here and post or go into to chat as many here can help and you can even help others believe it or not.
We all have problems but we can all help each other also. It helps me to see people come to Oasis and begin to start seeking God and His will daily.
I'll be checking on your post as I spend most of my time reading the forums.
May you feel God's love and know that He can and will help. But, He will allow you to decide what you want. The more you put in to this, greater is the reward.
I know how you feel as we all had to come to a point when we wanted to get better. Hard work pays off.

GBU!
