Hi,
By the way I heard from Sylvia and she continues to keep pushing ahead. She has been so much. BUT, She has given God all the glory for her holding up as well as she has. That being said...................
I'd like to be REAL here a moment.
I personally have been somewhat in a negative mode as of late. I find myself worrying, being fearful, just for starters.
Mark 4:19 states "And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful."
This has what has been taking place. I been trying to do God's thinking for Him. Shame for Real!
Just wanted to share as i used to quote it and tell you where it was at. Now I know and hopefully it also will be replanted in fertile soil.
Luv ya

Amen Real...we often become negative when the enemy is planting weeds in our mind...and we start to accept those weeds as the truth...when in reality they are lies...so time to weed the garden it sounds like.
Praying for you my friend.

uh huh...I call it crossing bridges that aren't really there...and by the time you get to that place where you thought there was going to be a bridge...you find out the road stayed smooth and there isn't a river to cross...and your going why did I ever think that I needed to cross that bridge way back yonder...
Oh we are something at times for sure.

Mark
Been up for a couple of hours pondering on mark 4;19.
The word choked---- To this class of people religion is presented and propounded; and they assent to it and receive it, and call themselves Christians; but many things arise between them and their duty.many avocations and impediments which prevent the WORD from having a due effect upon their hearts.
The cares of this world when admitted and nourished and encouraged, seize head and occupy the hours that the attention is entirely fixed on worldly affairs, and no leisure is allowed for spiritual concerns. And as no person can bear the toil and fatigue of being always contriving, projecting, labouring, plodding, and some amusement must intervene, the times for recreation are, for such persons, the times when other christians are attending the public worship of God, or meditating on sacred and serious at home.
Thus religious considerations are totally abanished; and the man may be said to be dead to God and Christ, and alive only to the world.
The deceitfulness of riches has the same bad effect. When the love of wealth is predominant and engrosses the affections, it produces an eagerness to aquire it; a proud trust and confidence in it; a settled resolution to preserve and increase by any methods. and in defiance of honesty and humanity; and an esteem or contempt of other persons, according as they are rich or poor: and then mammon alone is worshipped, and the love of God is expelled from the heart.
The lust of other things----------- desires of magnificence and spledor, of flattery and popular applause, of power and pre-eminenceand, in a word, immoderate affections for anything that is TEMPORAL and Transitory.

Mark 4:19 states "And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful."
You have me thinking Real. Watch out world!
Where are my cares of this world?
The running for material possessions?
Lust for anything other than God?
It is important to find these things in our lives because they will choke out God and I become unfruitful.
What am I allowing to choke out Jesus?
Very good thought triggering post.
We can be there for others, but in reality our words are not what helps them but the presence of the Holy Spirit ministering to them. I think I'm just a distraction to help them work through their thought process. I couldn't say to someone who is hurting bibbidee bobbidee boo because it's Him that is doing the work with in them, not me.

And............... in reality; no one actually know just how others make it through their trials because we are all made and think different.

Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.

uh huh real...this is when we search within ourselves to find what is choking the Word in our life and that of others....I think of how the enemy has choked the world down...devouring every chance he can. This is why it's important we are in the world...but not of it.

Sometimes someone needs a breakthrough in order to be open to the Holy Spirit so you may not be a distraction.
I read a book recently that was talking about how some churches start out so spirit filled but as time goes on and they continue to grow, something seems to be lost. The people start spending so much time doing the things of church that they start leaving God out of it.
real, I've notice that a few people are starting to have a hard time lately and truly believe that the enemy is trying to keep Oasis from growing.
Glory to God for the freedom of this site.
It is better to light a candle then curse the darkness
No fear... just freedom

Hi
I was reading lately in my Oswald Chambers Devotional on this subject.
"Take no thought for your life." (Matthew 6:25)
A warning which needs to be reiterated is that the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the lust of other things entering in, will choke all that God puts in. We are never free from the recurring tides of this encroachment. If it does not come on the line of clothes and food, it will come on the line of money or lack of money; of friends or lack of friends; or on the line of difficult circumstances. It is one steady encroachment all the time, and unless we allow the Spirit of God to raise up the standard against it, these things will come in like a flood.
"Take no thought for your life." Be careful about one thing only, says our Lord, "your relationship to Me." Common sense shouts loud and says, "That is absurd, I must consider how I am going to live, I must consider what I am going to eat and drink." Jesus says you must not. Beware of allowing the thought that this statement is made by One Who does not understand our particular circumstances. Jesus Christ knows our circumstances better than we do, and He says we must not think about these things so as to make them the one concern of our life
Whenever there is competition, be sure that you put your relationship to God first.
"Be anxious for nothing." Jesus says, Look again and think. Keep your mind on the "much more" of your heavenly Father."
(from "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers)
So.. this really hit the nail on the head (my head, now a bald head!)
Worry is one of the things I do best I am afraid to admit.
It is true what is said above. If we concentrate on our relationship to
God first, the other thoughts will not be in the forefront.
This is a daily struggle we all have I feel and need God to remind us of it.
Luv
