The first book of the Bible chronicles the account of the
first peaceable kingdom, Eden. Then it goes on to tell of
our tragic fall into sin and rebellion ((Gen. 1-3).

The New Testament begins with four great narratives
about the One who humanly descended from Abraham
to pay a dreadful price for our peace--the sacrificial
Lamb who died for the sins of the world.

Finally, we come to the messianic kingdom of peace
that will be replaced ultimately by the eternal kingdom
that God wants every person to experience. Peter wrote:

The Lord is not slack concerning His
promise, as some count slackness, but is
longsuffering toward us, not willing that any
should perish but that all should come to
repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

The Bible ends with an invitation to a world desperate
to experience ultimate peace. That peace can be ours
because of the One who sits on the throne of peace:

There shall be no more curse, but the throne
of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and
His servants shall serve Him. They shall see
His face, and His name shall be on their
foreheads. There shall be no night there:
They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for
the Lord God gives them light. And they
shall reign forever and ever (Rev. 22:3-5).
