WAITING

READ:
Psalm 70
______________________________________________

Make haste to help me,
O LORD!
__Psalm 70:1
______________________________________________

Make haste to help me. O LORD!" the psalmist David prayed (Ps. 70:1). Like him, we don't like to wait. We dislike the long lines at supermarket checkout counters, and the traffic jams downtown and around shopping malls. We hate to wait at the bank or at a restaurant.

And then there are the harder waits: a childless couple waiting for a child: a single person waiting for marriage; and addict waiting for deliverance; a spouse waiting for a kind and gentle word; a worried patient waiting for a diagnosis from a doctor.

What we wait for, however, is far less important than what God is doing while we wait. In such times He works in us to develop those hard-to-achieve spiritual virtues of meekness, kindness, and patience with others. But more important, we learn to lean on God alone and to "rejoice and be glad" in Him (v.4).

F. B. Meyer said, "What a chapter might be written of God's delays! It is the mystery of the art of educating human spirits to the finest temper of which they are capable. What searchings of heart, what analyzings of motives, what testings of the Word of God, what upliftings of soul.... All these are associated with thsoe weary days of waiting, which are, nevertheless, big with spiritual destiny." David Roper

**************Today's Bible Reading __ Psalm 70*****************

1 Make haste, O God, to
deliver me! Make haste to
help me, O LORD!

2 Let them be ashamed and
confounded who seek my
life; let them be turned back
and confused who desire my
hurt. 3 Let them be turned
back because of their shame,
who say, "Aha, aha!"

4 Let all those who seek
You rejoice and be glad in
You; and let those who love
Your salvation say
continually, "Let God be
magnified!"

5 But I am poor and needy;
make haste to me, O God!
You are my help and my
deliverer; O LORD, do not
delay.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon wrote of Psalm 70: "It is a fit pendant
to Psalm 69, and a suitable preface to Psalm 71.... This is the poor
man's memorial. David personally pleads with God that he may not
be forgotten, but David's Lord may be heard here also. Even if the
Lord seems to forget us, we must not forget Him. This memorial
Psalm acts as a connecting link between the two Psalms... and
makes up with them a precious triad of song." __Bill Crowder

Oh amen cimster :)

Gods timing is PERFECT. I know all too well how impatience can leave us frazzled and worried, but the delays give us a chance to display our faith and trust in the Lord as well. Will we choose worry and fear? Will we choose our own path? Will we wait on Him?

Gotta always remember that God sees the whole picture, and know why He does what He does when He does it :)

wonderful message.
