Christian Virtues of a Woman

Biblical Virtues of Women Bible Study

Splendid to have you back once again! Ready to delve into more Truth?!

Did you notice anything different about this verse? Maybe you've noticed that sometimes the Word of the Lord is spoken through the voice of a Prophet ... Word for Word. As if the Lord were really speaking, and just using the Prophet's voice as a microphone.

And other times, the Lord reveals prophecy to a Prophet and the Prophet reveals it in his own words. But this verse seems a little confusing, because it seems that the speaker is addressing the qualities of a virtuous woman, then mid-sentence, addresses king Lemuel.

Let's look closer. For our intents and purposes, we are looking at this prophecy in Proverbs 31 as our Godly example of Biblical ethics and Christian Virtues and we are applying this prophecy to our desire of becoming a virtuous woman. She is this, she is that, etc.

So, one might suppose that in this verse, king Lemuel's mother is telling him that there are a lot of women who have done a virtuous deed here and there, (then comes the shift in direction to her son) but you, sonny boy, are extraordinary. So don't be careless when searching for your soul-mate.

If you look at the previous verse, and take it all out of context you may assume that these words are all directed at a particular virtuous woman:

Proverbs 31:28-29

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

It is easy to conclude that the writer is talking to the reader ... You. So, you can also apply this verse to your own life today, as an encouragement, as if to say, There are a lot of average women out there, but you go girl and be better than they are!

Becoming a virtuous woman may seem like too much to ask ... To average women. You must be sincere and serious about it. With the right attitude, with the right Christian Virtues and Biblical ethics, it's not such a big mountain to climb. Think about it. If you wanted to run a 10 mile marathon, and never ran further than from the living room to the telephone, you wouldn't start your training by running 10 miles the first day.

You would start out with as far as you could possibly run and then the next day you would run that far plus a little further, each day, adding more and more until you reached the 10 mile distance. Then you would maintain that level with ease and comfort. The same with anything you set your mind to. Attitude and training. That's all it takes.

Christian Virtues and Ethics

Biblical Virtues of Women Bible Study Tips

Galatians 6:9

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Being a Godly example is not a package deal though. You mustn't fool yourself into thinking that possessing one virtue, or a few, compensates for those that you don't practice. Without all of the ingredients, without practicing Christian Virtues and Biblical ethics, the recipe will fail. An Angel by day, and a thief by night ... You can see, it just doesn't work.

That doesn't mean that you're going to do everything perfect, right from the start. Nobody can sit down at a harp, having never played before, though they've heard the music, and play a song. It takes time, it takes practice, it takes determination. You also couldn't sit down at the harp and play with only your right hand and expect the same results as if you used both.

Keep your eyes on the goal. If you put the same amount of time and effort into being virtuous, as you have (perhaps without knowing) toward being worldly, and don't look upon it as a hard job, it will be a goal easily achieved.

Psalms 17:5

Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

Psalms 31:3

For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.

Be as passionate to finish the job. Becoming a virtuous woman and remaining virtuous ... As you are to begin it. Challenge yourself to be the best you can be for God, each and every day. You may say to yourself of king Lemuel's mother, "This is just the opinion of one woman. God doesn't expect me to be perfect."

Matthew 5:48

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.

Now you may want to defend with this argument. "God knows that humankind has a sinful nature and therefore He sacrificed His Son, for that very reason. He will bestow His Grace upon me for my inadequacies." Wow. We humans make something as cherished as God's Grace seem cheap!

Look at this from God's point of view. God's purpose in blessing us with His Grace was not with the intent that people would use it as an excuse to sin. To our Father, this is like saying in your heart, that your evil deeds are premeditated, being confident that He will forgive you because He made the promise of forgiveness through the ultimate sacrifice of the precious life of His only Son.

Would you give the life of your child so that people could take advantage of it or take it for granted, or would it be in hopes that it could save them from a tragic everlasting future in the Lake of Fire after the End Times? Nobody would give insurance free of charge to someone who outwardly admits that their intent is to burn their house down or drink and drive.

Here's a question to ponder on. As we've learned, this Proverb states that it is the 'prophecy' of king Lemuel's mother. That means that the words are not just her own, they are inspired by the Holy Spirit. If the Lord didn't expect His bride to have the fruits of a virtuous woman, why would this be called prophecy? Why wouldn't it just be called a letter of a loving mother's advice to her son? Because it isn't simply a letter.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Romans 15:4

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

1 John 2:6

He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked.

Today's Christian Virtues

Biblical Virtues of Women Bible Study Woe

Make no mistake, the devil will fight you every step of the way. Don't forget, he wants your soul. It is Spiritual Warfare! Don't be surprised when he attacks even more, the closer you get to Jesus. He knows that he is losing you. He hates to lose. He wants you to think it's just too much to ask of anyone, becoming a virtuous woman and remaining virtuous at all times and in all ways. You will make mistakes. There isn't a Christian who doesn't. When you do, as a child of God, fix it fast.

Admit it. Confess it. Repent for it and try your very best never to do it again. Don't cry about it. Don't pity yourself. You don't have time for that. God's Grace is waiting for you. You need to get back to your new administration of serving God differently than you did before. God wants His bride to be entirely devoted, not just half hearted. If you stub your toe, it'll smart for a moment, then get up, and keep walking the walk of faith.

Revelation 3:15-16

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

There will also be those who are jealous of you for your new way. There will be those who will ridicule you if you stumble. Just know in your heart that God knows you're trying your best to live according to His will with the burden of the world, your flesh, Satan and your humanity (Original Sin) fighting against you. Those are pretty overwhelming odds ... But you're an extraordinary person.

John 8:7

... He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

To close our visit for today, I was going to dig up some scriptures that talk about being prudent, since "prudence" is our Virtuous Vitamin today, but it seemed to me that talking a little more about understanding what to do when prudence escapes us, was a little more urgent and practical of a topic, so we're going to continue on with that.

The Apostle Paul wrote a very interesting passage in his letter to the Romans. He explains how when he would do good, evil wasn't waiting far behind. This is because Satan knows when to turn up the heat on you and the better you do, the more vigorously he will send his imps to tempt you.

If things are very calm and serene for you at the start of your walk with Christ, you may want to take a closer look and see if you're somehow, in some way, still satisfying Satan's appetite in some way. This may be hard to understand, but you may look at the trials that you go through, as compliments, that you're on the right track.

Romans 7:14-25

14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Christian Virtues Summary

Biblical Virtues of Women Bible Study Conclusion

I have to admit, I admire Paul's writings with great regard. Wretched. How many times have you felt that feeling? So utterly disgusted with yourself that you wish you could erase time. My dear friend, God's Grace is the only thing that can save us ... From ourselves.

Whenever you catch yourself doing things that you don't really want to do, but you do them anyway and you just can't explain it. Don't go pounding your head against the wall to punish yourself. Instead, run I say, into the Grace of God's arms and ask Him, in the name of Jesus Christ, to forgive you and guide you with the Holy Spirit to live more sensitively to His will.

And don't forget to reflect on God's Glorious Grace, every day of your life. He loves you so very, very much.
