A friendly "hello" to those who have been following the Tell me the story of Jesus path as well as those who discovered this adventurous journey by searching for how to follow the Lord of all ... Jesus Christ. I Hope you brought your fishing rod, because we are going to the lake! Many people were following Jesus from place to place and they were anxious to hear the Word of God, so they urged Him to teach them.

As Jesus stood by the lake of Gennesaret, there were two ships at the shore, but the fishermen were out of them washing their nets. One of the ships belonged to Simon Peter. Soon thereafter, Jesus went into the ship and asked Peter to go out on the lake a little from the land. Jesus sat down and taught the people from out of the ship just like many Christians do in a Church.

Here is a little Following Jesus Bible study tidbit ... Did you know that Church doesn't have to be a planned service in a building? Jesus was doing it out on Peter's boat and believe me ... It was very effective. Our Following Jesus Bible study shows that those people listening to Jesus while He spoke to them out of a boat on a lake side were having a Church service right there.

What is Church after all really? It is fellowship and sharing the Gospel with another. As Jesus said:

Where two or more are gathered in my name, I am in the midst of them.

Whenever you do that, you have truly been to Church. It can be studying the Bible with your friend, or communing with people about God on your computer. It can be attending a concert of "God music" or telling your children a Bible story.

Follow the Lord of All in Church

Church can be a great place to learn about Jesus and it is an excellent means by which to commune with fellow believers. There are some excellent Churches out there. But, how does one know which Churches are good? The difference will be whether or not the Preacher, of that Church, is anointed by the Holy Spirit. If he or she is, they are a vessel used by God, to share God's Word, to your heart. Choose carefully. Seek God's direction in this matter.

Hopefully you're experiencing "Church" of different sorts many times throughout your week in all different places and situations. I have been asked if a person or family does not attend Church, will they go to Hell. The answer was given by Jesus ... Where 2 or 3 are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them Matthew 18:20. A Church is not a structure made with hands, it is simply where 2 or more gather in His name. It need not be a specific building. It can be with friends and/or family ... According to Jesus.

We best get back to our Following Jesus Bible study story so that we can get some Spiritual puzzle pieces to the mystery of how to follow the Lord of all ... When Jesus was done teaching, He told Peter to go out to the deep water and let down the nets for a catch. Peter said, Master, we've been trying all night and we haven't caught anything, but if you say so, I'll let down the net. Well, they caught so many fish that the net broke! Peter and Andrew had to call their partners, James and John, from the other ship to come and help them, and they filled both ships so full of fish that they started to sink.

When Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees in shame and said, Leave me Lord, I'm a sinful man. He felt bad that he doubted Jesus. In fact, everyone there was astonished at the amount of fish they caught. Jesus said to Peter, Don't worry, from now on, you'll be a fisher of men. He was telling Peter that Peter would be an Apostle and teach them about Jesus.

When they brought their ships to land, Peter, Andrew, James and John left their homes and families, their jobs and all they had and followed Jesus. Now that ... Is belief!

Let's take a Following Jesus Bible study field trip ... Imagine if you will, anyone you know, leaving their home, family, job and all they have, to serve Jesus. The fish, their boats, their jobs, their families ... everything! They didn't explain to anyone where they were going. They didn't go home and explain to their wives and children that they were going to start a new life as an Apostle, they didn't put in two weeks notice at work or make financial arrangements for their families while they were gone. They just up ... And left! They just took off to follow the Lord of all because He called them to do so.

How would you like to have that kind of Following Jesus devotion? Wouldn't you like to be one of the people that Jesus was talking about when He told the Apostles that they would catch men? Jesus' first visit on earth has come and gone, but you can go fishing with Jesus and follow Him every day of your life. He gave us the Holy Spirit to show us when to let down our nets and the Bible to remind us of His Word. Follow Him, and every day could be a day at the lake.
