How to Have Hope in the Bible Path to Peace

Psalms 25:21

Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

I trust you're taking just one step a day, it is the best way!

Colossians 3:10

Become a new man, renewed in knowledge after God's image.

Glad to join you again here on The Path! You've been quite the busy bee the last few days, weeding out your garden and should be feeling a little better and even possess more faith in God working through you.

But, there still may be that empty feeling and the old doubts may be trying to creep in. Why is that?

It's because inside of you, where all the weeds were, now there is a big empty space ... It is like a magnet drawing anything to fill in the blank space. A void that you must choose to fill with something good, so the weeds don't creep back in. When the bad comes out, fill it back in with good.

God loves you unconditionally and you probably sense by now the passion to do good and want to find ways to do it ... How do you do that though? Surround yourself with things of God. I like to call it "God stuff."

Pictures, key chains, refrigerator magnets, plaques, plants, books, magazines, drawings, posters, etc., ... Anything that reminds you to stay on your path. You already started doing this back at The Garden Gate but you must now choose to surround yourself even more with that which you want to become.

Ponder on these words:

Think on things that you want, Do not think on things that you don't want. Do you understand that? Instead of thinking about this ... Think about that.

Focus on the positive.

Put sticky notes on your mirrors, write yourself notes or scripture passages and put them everywhere you go from bedroom to kitchen to bathroom mirror.

Here are some samples:

  • Think good thoughts
  • Good Morning Holy Spirit!
  • Walk the walk
  • With God all things are possible
  • I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me
  • Forget the past, think forward
  • Abide with God
  • The Truth will set you free
  • Fight the good fight
  • God is Love
  • Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life
  • Never give up
  • Keep the faith
  • I am forgiven!
  • Believe to receive

How to Have Hope in the Bible Advice

You could write some of your favorite Scriptures or little sayings that get you in the spirit.

There are many other things you can do to fill that void.

Hang a cross on your rear view mirror. Attach an angel sticker to your telephone receiver. Put an inspirational book in the glove box of your car, you never know when you'll be waiting in a doctor's office, in line at the bank, or at a railroad crossing waiting for a slow train to pass. Idle time is when the devil loves to do his mischief the most.

Think about this ... You become what you surround yourself with. If you surround yourself with God stuff, you'll become of God. This is also a great reminder that you may want to use in several places.

What Would Jesus Do?

I'd like you to do a little positive reinforcement about something now, if you will ...
Remember back to when we talked about God's Grace in Stepping Stone #3.

As time passes, you'll find that you begin to make the right choices, out of Love ... Not fear of punishment. Come on ... It is easy if you are in Love with someone. You do not do what you do out of fear of losing them, you do what you do because you Love them and want to show it.

Choose to show God your Love by learning as much about Him as you can and the relationship grows.

Psalms 40:8

I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

How to Have Hope in the Bible Vacation

When God's law is in your heart, you will want to do His will, because you know He's looking out for your best interests.

Jeremiah 31:33

I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Ezekiel 36:26

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

How Long Lord?

Now, I know you are ready to have the Unconditional Love of God promises fulfilled and to be healed and maybe even able to help others and you want to know how long until it is completed.

When you think of king David, probably the first things that come to mind are his heroic act of killing the giant Goliath, and that he was the apple of God's eye.

Sounds like he had it going on huh?

You may even imagine he walked around without a care in the world.

Well, David had his problems too as we touched on earlier.

He spent much of his life hiding from king Saul who was trying to kill him because Saul was jealous of David. In the Psalms of the Bible, David prayed for God's intervention. Eight times he pleaded, How long, Lord? Though we naturally feel impatience, our fortitude does not go unnoticed by God.

Patience is a virtue.

Patience teaches Love. How? you may ask.

Let's take a little Field Trip and find out.

Luke 7:36-50

36 And one of the Pharisees desired Him that he would eat with Him. And He went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at His feet behind Him weeping, and began to wash His feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed His feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden Him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if He were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth Him: for she is a sinner.
40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And He said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44 And He turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

48 And He said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49 And they that sat at meat with Him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50 And He said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

How to Have Hope in the Bible Scripture

While you patiently endure the time it takes to be free of your problem, God is gradually and patiently strengthening your Love and trust in Him. You don't want to rush that. You wouldn't want to rush the Lord about anything.

If your problem goes away suddenly, it's likely that you'll forget the miracle just as suddenly.

How long did it take your problem to develop into something that you realized will take God's hand to remove it?

How long has there been distance between you and your Father?

God knows that we appreciate things more when they take longer to achieve them. It's just a fact. God knows what He's doing. He's in control.

Trust Him.

Let Go and Let God!

Let Go (of your problem), And Let God (remove it)!

God has your back through all your tears and fears. The unconditional Love of God is a warm embrace.

Romans 8:28

All things work together for good to them that Love God.

Teen Hope Bible Study Teachings
How to Have Hope in the Bible Trail

It took 40 days and 40 nights for the Lord to give Moses all the laws for His people. Think of Jesus' healing as a progressive miracle, not something that's going to happen all at once.

Psalms 37:34

Wait on the LORD, and keep His way, and He shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

In other words ... Don't be impatient for the Lord to Act! Travel steadily along His path because it is certain that God Loves you unconditionally and seeks that which is best for you.

Change Your Habits

Time for another Field Trip!

God has some favorite numbers and one of them is 40.

These are some of the times the Lord used the number 40.

  • 40 days and 40 nights of the Great Flood.
  • Moses was in the mount for 40 days and 40 nights.
  • The children of Israel wandered in the wilderness for 40 years.
  • The children of Israel spied out the land for 40 days.
  • There were 40 years of peace in the days of Gideon.
  • Goliath provoked the army of Israel for 40 days.
  • King David reigned for 40 years.
  • Elijah was fed and strengthened by an Angel for 40 days and 40 nights.
  • Ezekiel laid on his right side to bear the iniquity of Israel for 40 days.
  • God gave Nineveh 40 days to change their evil ways.
  • Jesus fasted and was tempted for 40 days and 40 nights by satan.
  • Jesus was seen for 40 days after His resurrection by His disciples.

Pretty cool huh?

Notice that in most of the Unconditional Love of God examples, 40 days is the time that God chose for periods of cleansing or testing of one's faith of one kind or another. If you want to establish a new good habit or break an old one, let the number 40 days stick in your mind.

Make yourself a chart like this example:

Habit Chart

Write the habit you wish to establish or break at the top.

Make a grid of squares (like tic-tac-toe) with 4 rows and 10 columns, which will represent 40 days. For each day that you perform your new habit or surrender your old one, put a check mark in one of the squares. If you don't accomplish your goal for even one day, start over again. You must be successful for 40 days in a row.

You may be thinking I have to start all over again? The goal is to make this a permanent habit. You won't be practicing your old habit, or you will be practicing your new one forever, anyway. So, what's the problem?

If you'd like, you can do this as one of your Miracle Grow activities. Repeat this over and over in your mind ... Many attempts repeated, complete any undertaking! Keep in mind, that you're building a whole new lifestyle for yourself. Dedication and devotion to your cause is so very important.

Hebrews 6:10-12

10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of Love, which ye have shewed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the Saints, and do minister.
11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through Faith and patience inherit the promises.

But ... But ... But
Habits are so hard to break!

How to Have Hope in the Bible Promise

Let me give you an illustration that will change your thoughts about that. Eating is something that most people love to do. But fall in Love, and suddenly your appetite vanishes as do other thoughts and habits. That's because you've changed your thoughts which changed your habits.

The passion that you have for something directly affects how successful you will be at it. Plant a new seed of determination in your garden, right there in that empty void that's ready for new growth.

Love is an easy passion to follow. So, apply Love to your lifestyle.

  • Love the fact that you're on the right path.
  • Love the fact that you're strengthening your relationship with God.
  • Love the fact that you can see changes beginning in your life.
  • Love the feeling of renewing your mind.
  • Love Jesus for offering you forgiveness every day.
  • Love the Holy Spirit for waiting for you to decide to ask for help.
  • Love the freedom that God's Grace gives you.

God is Love

1 John 4:8

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is Love.

Ask Him to remove your old habits, and transfer the passion you had for them to serving Him.

Let Go and Let God!

Let Go (of your problem), And Let God (remove it)!

Some changes that you'll want to make are minor, but there will be major ones too. Some will be harder than others. Some will seem extremely hard. It all depends on your heartfelt dedication ... Your passion to achieve your goal.

Consider your friendships. If you surround yourself with ungodly people, guess what you're likely to become? If they don't understand your desire to separate yourself from things that put distance between you and God, then you may wanna look up the definition of friend and see if demanding you do something that you feel is wrong is what a friend does.

Nobody is saying that you should kick your friends to the curb, I am saying you should not play follow the leader with anyone but Jesus.

Now having them follow Him is a thought to consider, huh? But ... If it comes to making a choice ...

Choose Wisely

A true friend would not require anything of you that would take you from your Love and hope. They would understand, if not follow.

Proverbs 19:24

There are friends that one hath to his own hurt; but there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

A true friend loveth at all times.

Proverbs 17:17

A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Remember this Truth: Anything or anyone that comes between you and God, is closer to God than you are.

God
😉
You

Which is closer to God, You or 😉?

2 Corinthians 6:17-18

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Fellowship with other Christians will help you stay on the Path ... On God's path. Some people have called it "the lonely road of Faith."

But, in all Truth, you're never alone.

You have God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit with you always, not to mention millions and millions of Christians that are out there dealing with the same thing. Hundreds of thousands sojourn through the Oasis community itself and many of those chose to become members of the Oasis and are available to fellowship with and even befriend in the forums and chat room.

They will even pray with and for you ...

2 Corinthians 1:11

Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

Prayer of others can cause miracles.

Remember Jesus' promise.

Matthew 18:19-20

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in Heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Someone else praying for the same thing you are, is agreement.

Sooooooo ... Take an inventory of your lifestyle.

If there are things that need to be changed, get rid of the bad, and always replace it with good. This applies to little things like television shows that teach compromised morals, as well as big things like maybe your friends that demand you do things you do not want to do anymore.

Teen Hope Bible Study Truth
How to Have Hope in the Bible Answers

Everything is important. Think about the wardrobe you choose. Does it exemplify the godly person you want to be? What about the conversations you engage in and/or the language you use? Does the music you listen to promote righteousness? Are the books you read something you'd share with Jesus? Give one thing as much importance as another.

Another word of advice: Being overly careful about tiny details of one virtue can't make up for complete neglect of another.

Make Positive Changes

Remember, teenage hope is needed and teenage hope can be attained by changing your views. Be careful of exchanging one bad habit for another bad habit. Keep your eyes on the goal and always think good thoughts!

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
