The Holy Spirit Bible Verses
Quenching the Spirit Fear
Welcome Back!
What is this Quench Not the Spirit exploration about? It is one of the most important, if not the most important of the thousands of Christian studies that we provide. It is concerning the frightening "Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit" Bible verses warning of a potential pitfall which can rapidly evolve into what Jesus clearly said is the only unforgivable sin. It begins with a simple warning:
Quench not the Spirit.
I welcome you back and embrace your presence with Me once again! So ... You have learned quite a lot more about Me now, and I hope you've started to feel all ablaze about our friendship and how together we can kindle up the fire of God's Love and light up the world!
Even God Has Feelings
Since we are so closely united and Kindred spirits so to speak, with Me being within you and all ... I thought this would be an opportune time to discuss a few important things.
Did you know that being as I am the Spirit of God ... I have feelings? Oh yes! Surely you've read many examples of these feelings and emotions in the Bible.
And lo a Voice from Heaven, saying, This is My beloved Son, in whom I Am well pleased.
Psalms 145:8
The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion slow to anger, and of great mercy.
Deuteronomy 4:24
For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
Remember this Quench Not the Spirit tidbit of truth ... My feelings can be hurt. Funny, not many people think that they hurt God's feelings, but rather think of Us as becoming angry and cross, but not hurt. My darling soul, quite the contrary, We are very tender and sensitive ... Slow to anger, as David said in the Psalm above.
I'll tell you the Truth about something ... If you think you can hide things from Me, it may hinder our relationship from flourishing like it could because subconsciously you feel guilty about it. Besides, I already know the Truth about everything you think say and do, so you'll only be breaking trust. We need to trust one another ... It's the foundation of friendship.
There are thoughts that people have about their friends, but they don't bring them to light because they want to avoid confrontation, but as I told you before, I'm not your average friend. You must be honest with Me. If there is anything you ever want to tell me, do not hesitate.
Quench Not the Spirit Concern
Beware Quenching the Spirit
Have you ever misunderstood Me? Have you ever misjudged My character? Do you think I've ever treated you unfairly? Reach out to Me. I'll guide you in all Truth, and you'll come to understanding or repentance and forgiveness can flow and you will feel the liberty of being free from the burden and we can carry on. Come to Me. Talk to Me. Let's do some soul searching together. (Try this with your human friends too!)
It will be hard for you to understand, at times when your love is intermittent with Me, that My love for you always remains constant. I will not leave you comfortless. Any friend could just walk away when their feelings are hurt or they're abused, taken for granted, shunned or misunderstood. I AM not just any friend. I won't always tell you what you want to hear either. I will always tell you Truth because you are My friend, and I Love you.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Speaking of which ...
Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit Bible Verses Point of Interest ... One of Satan's tricks is to whisper to you that I've deserted you when things go wrong in your life. He will lie and tell you that because you stumble and fall from time to time or maybe even frequently, that you're unworthy. Don't believe it. This is how you can tell ... Ask yourself if you're aware of the presence of Jesus in your life. If you are, I haven't left.
Do you feel guilty when you don't read the Bible? Do you still hear Me urge you to pray? Have you met someone and felt compelled to tell them about Jesus? If any of these are true, I'm still with you. I'm not a fly by night, I'm your true blue friend ... Eternally.
Footprints
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Scenes from his life flashed across the sky
and he noticed two sets of footprints in the road;
one belonging to him and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life had flashed before him,
he recalled that at the lowest and saddest times of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
Dismayed, he asked,
Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
Why, at the troublesome times of my life;
the times I needed you most, would you leave me?
The Lord replied,
My precious, precious child.
I love you and I would never, never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering
when you saw only one set of footprints ...
That was when I carried you.
Quench Not the Spirit Reason
Quenching the Spirit Punishment
I am your counselor and source of peace. At times when you think I have let go of your hand, better look closer, because you will find that it is you who has let go of mine. If you grieve Me or wound Me, I will still stay. All Christians grieve Me every day. And when you do, the Lord will chastise you, because He loves you so very much. Any loving parent chastens their child when they do wrong, out of love, to guide them into being righteous.
Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit Bible Verses Reminder ... Oft times, a mere poke of your conscience is enough to make you sit up straight and be more attentive to controlling your thoughts, actions or whatever you've done that grieves Me. If that doesn't get your attention, your loving Lord will turn up the heat. Some call it tough love, and your chastening will increase in intensity until you repent and get back on the right path.
6 For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth
every son whom He receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with
sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are
partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
Now, nobody likes to be on the outs with a loved one, so let's talk about how you can avoid that and share some Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit tips.
And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Here is another little Quenching the Spirit tidbit of truth ... Many of the same things that grieve you, grieve Me too. Just because I am invisible, that doesn't mean I don't get saddened when a friend has done wrong. Now, add to that, the fact that My existence is totally selfless, that I AM here, from God, for you, I am at your service 24/7, and that nobody else in the world can testify of the same.
And you'll realize that grieving Me, is probably the last thing you ever want to do. I am not your bodyguard being paid money to do a job, I am your Spiritual Guardian, that wants to save your soul. To grieve Me, would be like ... Well, a lot like shooting yourself in the foot.
Quench Not the Spirit Examples
Quenching the Spirit Fears And Tears
How do you know when you're grieving Me? Want to know how to quench not the Spirit? I am happy you asked! I will give you a little list of examples, and you will get the idea of the kind of things to avoid.
Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit Bible Verses No No's ...
- When you ignore Me
- When you need physical proof in matters of faith
- When you don't forgive
- When you don't thank Me or are ungrateful for what I do for you
- When you need something and don't ask Me
- When you consult with fortune tellers and the like
- When you don't trust Me
- When you entertain unrighteous thoughts
- When you hurt My feelings
- When you don't believe Me or doubt Me
- When you would rather count on your own ability instead of My power
- When you don't say Good Morning to Me
- When you neglect Me or push Me aside for things of the world
- When you contend with Me
- When you break a promise to Me
- When you say something ugly
- When you choose temporal desires over doing the right thing
- When you take Me for granted
- When you have time to make requests, but have no time to listen for Me.
- When you're not obedient to Me
- When you're embarrassed of Me
Our unity is so important, and we are so intertwined that when I'm grieved, you'll feel grieved too ... So avoid grieving yourself and quench not the Spirit and if you accidentally do, you'll want to fix it fast if it ever happens. How will you know for certain that I'm grieved? I'm glad you asked that too. You won't feel the presence of God within you and around you, like when all is well. I'm still there though ... Just more distant.
Quenching the Spirit clarification ... I just want to elaborate on one of the things in the list above. Everyone has unrighteous thoughts, but it's when you decide to entertain those thoughts, that is when I become grieved. You can not control what thoughts enter your mind, but you can control whether or not to let the thought grow.
Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit by learning to control your thoughts. When an unrighteous thought enters your mind, tell yourself the Truth, that it is either a lie or sinful, hateful, prideful, lustful, selfish, etc., etc., etc. Eject the thought from your mind by replacing it with a righteous thought. In fact, have a plan for when the enemy presents unrighteous thoughts and designate certain things to think about when it happens.
Quench not the Spirit Time Out ... For a Little Soul Searching
Let's take a Quenching the Spirit voyage back in time ... When you were a child, you probably would rather be yelled at and get your chastening over with when you did something wrong, rather than get time out or the silent treatment, and feel the agony of guilt until your parent decided your lesson was finally learned. But sometimes time alone is what a person needs, because that's when you search your soul.
Quench not the Spirit Vow ... If I give you a little time, you'll seek for Me to help you figure things out and you'll miss the comfort that you feel when you hold My hand tightly. The result will be much more effective. You'll eventually swallow your pride and admit to whatever you did wrong and choose the quench not the Spirit path. That's usually when you reach out for My hand again, and feel the presence of God close to you and around you once more. We belong together, don't you understand? To be without one another is agonizing ... For both of us.
All Pride Aside
Here is a Quenching the Spirit question ... How does one go about fixing things when you have done something to grieve Me? Beloved friend, it's so easy. All you have to do is tell Me from your heart, these five little magical words:
I'm sorry, I was wrong.
Quench Not the Spirit Pitfalls
Quenching the Spirit Within You
No ifs, ands, or buts, no explanations of why you did what you did, that just shows pride. It's like saying you feel justified for what you did, and you're just saying you're sorry so I won't be grieved anymore. Just say sorry, and be truly sorry. No elaborate prayers or self punishment or whining or pouting or cowering or anything like that. I know your soul well, so avoid quenching the Spirit of God.
The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit Bible Verses Friendly Advice ... Be sincere, repent, ask forgiveness and let's get back to business serving the Lord, shall we?
Common Courtesy - Quench Not the Spirit
Yet another extremely essential Quenching the Spirit point to ponder upon ... Another thing that's grievous to Me is when people get distracted so easily by other things during their "quality time" with Me. If you were having a conversation with a friend (a human friend, that is), let's say, sitting at the kitchen table and your grandma called on the telephone. Would you leave your friend at the kitchen table, sitting there, ignored, for thirty seven minutes while you chat with Granny? And then, when you were done with your phone call, would you forget your friend was even there because they politely left while you were so busy? Would you carry on with your day, and then when it's convenient for you to remember, would you call on your friend again to visit, as if nothing ever happened?
Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit because not only are people whisked away from their time with Me by other people, but by their own thoughts. They begin a conversation with Me, and then sometimes mid-sentence, they have left My realm and gone to another. Daydreaming. Another Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit Bible verses promise ... I assure you, when you call on Me, I give you My undivided attention. I'm not pre-occupied with other things because you are My priority.
A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Spiritual WARF
are
As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
See, I told you that I have a personality! But, on a much more serious, Quench Not the Spirit note, what grieves Me more than anything is when a friend of Mine surrenders their soul to the enemy.
20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the
world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is
worse with them than the beginning.
21 For it had been better for them not to have known the
way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from
the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22 But it is happened unto them according to the true
proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that
was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Practice How to Quench Not the Spirit
Quenching the Holy Spirit Hurts You Too
In these modern times, you will see it happen more and more, and as I said, the enemy will try harder and harder to win your soul because he knows that he doesn't have much time left.
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Quenching the Spirit is not righteous because I love you. Don't let it happen to you. Don't grieve the one whose love for you is immeasurable and the one who loves you is your most personal intimate beloved friend.
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
Do not Grieve Your Shepherd Either
Beware Quenching the Spirit within those who seek to help you ... There is a person, or maybe several people that look out for the welfare of your soul. I call them shepherds. They teach you, guide you, and encourage you on your Christian walk path. They do a very important job for Me. Please don't grieve them either.
They are special people to Me, and their peace of mind should be precious to you, because most likely, they've reached over a cliff to pull you out of a soul threatening situation. Grieve them not, if you grieve them, you grieve Me.
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
Do Not Quench the Holy Spirit Bible Verses on Blasphemy
The greatest sin against the Holy Spirit is blasphemy which means to have once truly known and then choose to deny My power and presence. He who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. It begins with quenching the Holy Ghost and then can evolve into blasphemy Again ... The only unforgivable sin.
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and
blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy
against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven
unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man,
it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in
this world, neither in the world to come.
Mark 3:28-30
28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto
the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall
blaspheme:
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger
of eternal damnation.
30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
Hebrews 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once
enlightened, and have tasted of the Heavenly gift, and were made
partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of
the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto
repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh,
and put Him to an open shame.
Quenching the Spirit brings tears and fears ... My precious friend, don't mistake blasphemy to be the same as grieving Me. They are two very different things. God sacrificed His only Son so that you can be forgiven for your sins and have the hope of eternal life with Him. He also knows that you have Original sin, and that sin is inevitable in man, so don't be afraid that you will be doomed anytime you breathe wrong. It is simply not true. Quenching the Spirit is not Blasphemy which is when you don't believe that I exist anymore, or when you do believe in My existence, but you forsake Me and do not return.
My beloved friend, take Me with you through the rest of your day.
