Mongolian Mouse

Not a mouse was in the house
But a Mongolian Mouse?
And it is a gerbil...
Sweet little creature aboard the ark
Enjoys watching the elephants
Keeps track of the other animals
Noah calls out to the gerbils...
Making sure they are all aboard
Checking to make sure they are all right
A pair of gerbils in Noah's sight
A pair of gerbils in the cold of night
Sweet little creatures aboard the ark

Jesus is the Light of the world.
(John 8:12)

Noah Loves Coffee

Sipping on a hot cup
Noah seeks a warm abode
The piles of manure
Captivate an audience
From almost anyone
Elephants and cockroaches
Walking in the cow pies
But coffee steers the boat
Noah keeping his mind afloat
Work has to be done here
On a floating zoo of animals
A water farm
With God's arm
Safely away from
The devil's harm
And the coffee
Magnificent
Noah's cornerstone
His caffeine home
Sheer in pure joy
Of a coming baby boy
Named Jesus
A Messiah-King
For everyone's heart to sing
And He is on the way
Providing a way of escape
Away from sin
And a new life to begin
Get aboard the coffee train!

Delight yourself also in the Lord,
and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
(Psalm 37:4)

Newcomers

Tiny paws
And twitching noses
Newcomers to an
Aquarium home
Caged in by glass
Please proceed with love
And gentleness
And trust in God
For food and water
Gerbils are newcomers
In this home
And bless this home Lord!
Nature thrills us
Mother Nature stimulates us
Keeping us in wonder about
Nature and God
And tiny paws
Like babies
Seek the milk of God
In the here and now

But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you
and guard you from the evil one.
(II Thessalonians 3:3)

Icy Raindrops

Gerbils peering out
Through the windows
Like a New England snow
With cold roof tops
Everyone seeking shelter
From the winter storm
As we remember
Eternal blue skies of youth
But Mother Nature
Keeps the chill alive
However the sun
Can break through
And rescue a cold heart
Baby gerbil
Baby gerbil
How sweet you are
And deer breaths
Become ice crystals
In the air
New scent on the dog trail
Reveals new animals
On icy tracks
Gerbils again peer out
Through the windows
Of an icy laden ark
And the dogs bark
Gerbils peering out through
The windows

And my God shall supply all your needs according to
His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:19)

Gerbil Fun Day

Open portholes
And scavenger bugs
Make a slow moving day
Even the turtles make fun
Of a slower moving land snail
Noah and the wood planks
Give the gerbils
A diving board of fun
Playing aboard the water ship
Everyone is now happy
Gerbil tails swing radically
Even the crocodiles have warm hearts
Upon a slimy deck
Of algae and rain water
Gerbils run wild
Wearing New Year costumes
Of joy, happiness and stardom
Mongolian Mice or gerbils
They are called
It is gerbil fun day
Tiny paws in clay
Avoiding fears
Not shedding tears
Aboard the ark of glory
Even the hurricane is afraid
And the gerbils communicate
In foot thumping
Squeaking
Faith through nose twitching
Skin not itching
The only allergy is water
But have you
Ever seen a gerbil paddle?
Please move the mountains Lord
And keep us in the faith!

For we walk by faith, not by sight.
(II Corinthians 5:7)

Gerbil Ark Rain

I see a gerbil in the rain
Upon the icy deck of pain
God help this tiny creature
Please display your Heavenly features
Place this animal far below
And away from Mother Nature's
Hurricane show
He is much too small
Facing these waves so tall
Thank you for your guiding hand
Get our paws on the dirty land
Glad he went below the deck
Sunshine warm
Warmth upon a gerbil's neck

Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in Heaven
that one of these little ones should perish.
(Matthew 18:14)

Pink Sunset

Noah was tucking in the animals
Ready for a good night's sleep
Especially the elephants, cows and sheep
And a few loose gerbils
Riding the wood planks
But overcast came a pink sunset
The reassurance of Christ our God
Giving rainbows and clouds
A pink appearance
Heaven is our reward
And everyone can be calm
The boat was not upset
As the pink sunset
Invaded every port hole
Lined with algae

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
(Psalm 119:105)

Gerbils up the Ramp

Two by two
Animals going up the ramp
Wooden planks supporting them
Excitement of a new life
As birds pecked at seeds
Noah thrilled by God's love
And gerbils now on-the-double
Going up the ramp
Elephants and humorous hams
Deer, seals and lambs
Two by two
Gerbils with little eyes
Taking a peek at cloudy skies
When will the rain come?
Will there be a dove?
Noah was thrilled by God's love
Gerbils up the ramp
Like a Mongolian mouse
A quiet boat house
Little paws
Little feet
God's love so sweet

You have granted me life and favor,
and Your care has preserved my spirit.
(Job 10:12)

Noah's Troubles

On the ark
Life is not easy
Squirrels and gerbils
With stomachs queasy
Rain is coming down
Like cats and dogs
Repaired a rudder
As heavy as a log
Clouds wind and rain
And never ending pain
A light snow
On the greasy deck
Noah shoveled most of it
Avoiding a heart attack
But God keeps us all going
A system of checks and balances
A life of faith
Yes, a life of faith
And sometimes our walls crumble
Noah had trouble
Life is not easy on the ark
But Noah made it
On faith

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
(Philippians 4:13)

They did the Gerbil Boogie-Woogie

Gerbils in flight
Tails airborne
Singing and dancing
Singing and prancing
They did the Gerbil Boogie-Woogie
Little paws
Giving high fives
Tails in orbit
Drunk on communion wine
Sipping from the
Forbidden vine
Noah couldn't keep up with them
Even he danced a Charleston
Tongues so dry
As they kissed raindrops
And the boat treaded water
Gerbils looked at the sky
With raindrops
In their eyes
A flood of emotion
Dancing
Prancing
Laughing
Tails airborne
Some played the flute
Some jammed on guitar
Dancing fools
They did the Gerbil Boogie-Woogie

Everyone should make a wonderful shout to the Lord and praise Him!

A Gerbil's Prayer

Heavenly Father:
Please keep me safe and protect my tiny life
Provide me with food and water as the Lord provides
I need a clean home with other gerbils to prosper
Include a loving human friend Oh, Lord!
Make sure the pet owner is reliable and loving
I want to make his children happy and
Make the wife laugh by my cheerful personality
I need a spiritual life too Lord
A true companion in Jesus Christ for eternal life
I want to go to Heaven
Where all the loving people, plants and animals reside
Thank you for this day, our daily bread
Thanks for putting your precious hands on us gerbils

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
for brethren to dwell together in unity!
(Psalm 133:1)

Gerbil Store

Upon the ark
Gerbils and the pocket pets
Run a little retail store
Here they sell
Scented candles
Herbs and tasty treats
Personal items for sale
One gerbil purchased a nail clipper
Another bought a flashlight
Some visitors to the store are mice
They come in and shop as well
The sale items are ready for Saturday
And all the gerbils
Trim their whiskers
Good-looking shopkeepers
Everyone seems
To get a good deal

And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.
(Matthew 21:22)

Running Wild

Noah began losing control
As the gerbils are running wild
Almost like a spoiled child
Up a ladder and down again
Goofy grins and gerbil frowns
Communicating in basic feet thumping
Talking in squeaks
Snuggling with each other
Including grooming behaviors
Napping and wrestling on Noah's Ark
Digging and burrowing
Sometimes fighting and tummy rubbing
Noah is losing control
As gerbils are running wild
Almost like a spoiled child
See them go up the planks
Squeaking from door frames
On the wooden ship
Climbing walls often
Goofy grins and laughing
They broke into the pantry
Eating sunflower seeds
With fat bellies
Silly Mongolian Mice
But gerbils nice

For where two or three are gathered together in My Name,
I am there in the midst of them.
(Matthew 18:20)

Tea with Noah

The coffee room
The tasty beans
Bean bag chairs
Fancy lanterns
A gerbil hangout
Fancy pillows
A place of relaxation
The aroma of coffee
Tea bags warming your soul
Noah prayed before he drank
From a cup of tea
Always giving thanks for everything
Hot cups of tea aboard the moist Ark
Keeps one warm at night or day
Especially before chapel service
The tea cups steam up the room
Elephants sweeping with brooms
Cow pies and manure
Reality aboard a large vessel
But the coffee and tea
Keep one's spirit alive
Gerbils singing together in the rain
With wet whiskers and tiny paws
Coffee beans packed in tiny jaws
Catching a caffeine buzz
A gerbil boat full of love
Now they perk up to black gold
Gerbils getting caffeine buzz
Just a gerbil boat
With Noah's love

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace.
(I Corinthians 14:33)

Nature Song

Give me your heart Lord
Let me see the grasses of spring
Water so living
On wet and parched lips
Thank You Jesus
For a sunny day
I made it through again
With Your care
I can see the little gerbils
Walking in the grasses
Of spring
And of course
They sing

Bonnie in Heaven

Bonnie went to Heaven
As we crowded around the bed
We prayed and cried our eyes out
But You Lord
Took her to Heaven
To the golden shores
Where there will be light
And never any night
Now the gerbils do
A little dance
And Bonnie laughed

Pea Soup for Gerbils

Oh, not pea soup again
The fat gerbil said
As they stirred the green broth
