Spiritual Warfare- and a little about me and my Savior

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

Spiritual Warfare- and a little about me and my Savior

Postby susidivah » Wed Jul 11, 2007 8:34 pm

It was in late November, 2005 that I was in a drama for my church portraying an angel trying to convince a young businessman to not partake of some internet "adult entertainment". Of course opposite me was the nemesis, in typical scenario of what spiritual warfare can be. My final words to the congregations were Ephesians 6:11-12:

Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.

I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ, and I am recovering from (female) sexual addiction and alcohol abuse. I also have struggled with multiple forms of food addiction, anxiety and panic attacks. With the Holy Spirit's guidance I am now working on a couple of different versions of my testimony. I'm finding I have so much to say and share and that bringing more of it into the light in hopes of helping others as well is so freeing. God has been so gracious to me throughout my dark times, when I literally sold my body and soul to Satan. It's amazing to think of the glimmers of Him which took many years for me to see that was to remind me you can't serve two masters. I would hope to have the chance to share more with my Oasis family as the Spirit allows in the future. I praise God for this awesome site and people.

Which brings me to another scripture also from Ephesians. To remember:

Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them. It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But when the LIGHT shines on them, it becomes clear how evil these things are. And where your LIGHT shines, it will expose their evil deeds. This is why it is said, Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you LIGHT. (Eph 5:10-14)

God Bless You all and keep coming back *BigHug*

Susi, I appreciate you being honest and sharing yourself with us. GBU my friend. Until we can be honest with ourselves and others; we have very little chance of getting better. This reminds me of a verse in Ecclesiastes 8:11 which says "Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil." In other words, we sometimes can sin without reaping Godly judgment right away. We think we can get by with it. Even though I am in recovery, I still have a choice to make each day. We have to be accountable to ourselves as well as others. We had to stop living a lie. We have too want to get better. Its a process in which God enlightens me each day if I will open my eyes and look. Not to be selfish, but to give myself to others in sharing my past giving them hope that there is a solution. The Solution is HE. And HE will provide people in your lives to help and inspire as you have me Susi. Thanks for sharing and may God's hand continue to heal you One Day At A Time. GBU Real. *harp*
