The Saints in Heaven are not Dead People
I have heard many Christains call the humans in heaven, including Mother Mary and Saint Peter, dead people. This is not the case. All people in heaven are saints. Some more lowly than others, but they are all saints and above all of us on earth.
All the Christian churches I know believe that we go to heaven when we die. How can we be dead when we have received our inheritance of salvation?
John 3:16. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish, but may have eternal life.
When in heaven, by the power of God, our souls have been restored to that first inhalation of creation when God looked at humanity and said it was good.
1 Corinthians 1:18. Because the word of the cross is madness to those who are lost; but to those who are saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God.
Going beyond our inheritance, there are those who have received their reward and are superior beings.
Matthew 5:12. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
If our souls were not salvaged, we would be spiritually dead. And we could not be with Father God, His Son Jesus, the angels and saints in heaven. God is the living God and not the God of the dead.
Those who are perishing(Jn 3:16) are without God, dead, evil, fallen into the lowly state or condition of hell and their names are not written in the Book of Life.
On the second death;
Revelation 20: 13-15.And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them; and each one was judged according to his works. And death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whoever was not found inscribed in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
