Trapped

I am struggling with sexual sin. I have prayed for many years to be delivered from this struggle and that the Lord would fight the battle for me. Days would come where I am strong enough spiritually to say no and I am able to resist the impulses, but then days would come when I am not able to resist and I fall into sexual sin brought on by unclean thoughts. When I fall, I go to the Lord in prayer, but often feel like I am not truly repenting of the sin because I keep falling time and time again into the same sin. There's no change. Therefore, I find it hard to forgive myself and move on. I even sometimes doubt my salvation. I feel trapped spiritually and I am trying to break free. I know I can't do it on my own, but appearantly I must be trying to fight the battle on my own instead of the Lord fighting for me. I feel unfaithful, worthless and rebellious against God.

Hello Worship,

Time to stand, dear brother in Christ, STAND on the Word of God.

Romans 8:38-39
(38)For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, (39) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Let's see...you've been singing praises to our Lord, and you've been lifting up people in prayer to our Lord, and suddenly you have a thought that maybe you may not be saved??? Who just might behind that thought? Who may have just planted that thought in your mind with a whisper?

Jesus speaking: John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Listen to Jesus. He loves you, Worship.

God bless and keep you.
Love,
Mack

You're not alone. We know that HIS love is greater than all else. When I'm at a total loss and feel I have no more fight in me, instead of trying to win the battle, I put all my focus just on the "HIS love" part. What is it about HIM and HIS love that I still need to better understand? I think we tend to focus on defeating the "all else" part ourselves. We want to show God we can win in His name. But if we just focus on growing closer in HIS love, and we just leave the "all else" to Him, He brings us out of it. I think, for me, the pride of trying to win this battle myself, while well intentioned, is often part of the problem.

Hello Trapped,
I am new at this site but someone told me that my testimony was the thing that I would overcome my bondage by. So that is why I am responding, to break free from the chains. I stand in front of a church full of people every week and they look at me as if I were something good when the whole time I am just like you. I play the game, and when I am preparing for my sermon I feel so guilty and I truely want to do good, I really do. But it seems like I will be going along good and then I loose it, and I loose it bad. Sin is something that is so powerful that I can't overcome it, I am a very independant person and I have always wanted to control everything in my life and with this sin I am not in control. That is why I have failed because I was trying to defeat it. You can't defeat it, it is just like drugs, you can't do it on your own. It is only by God's power and His grace that you will ever defeat it. When you feel like you are going to fall, then plead the blood of Jesus. There is nothing more powerful. I will pray for you if you will pray for me. You can do it with His help!
