empty sobriety

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

empty sobriety

Postby mcfrissa » Mon Jun 21, 2010 1:41 am

I have 32 days of sobriety today, I've had up to almost 6 months in the past, so it doesn't seem like a whole lot for me. It's still really hard, every day, sometimes minute to minute. I have sobriety, but if feels really empty, cuz I still don't have God's prescence or peace in my life, and I'm left with a really empty, restless feeling. I'm still wrestling with depression, I don't have any peace or joy in my life, I know where I am, and I know where I want to be, and I may even know how to get there, but I'm stuck, I can't move. But, I'm not giving up, and I think I feel that God isn't giving up either. k' bye!

Hi there.
32 days is a long time. 2 days is a long time. Think of today! Live for today.
Remember to take a self inventory. Nothing is worth picking back up that first day.
We have to learn a new way of life and God will show us daily.
Beware of self-pity creeping up.
Be grateful and listen to God.
Do not isolate yourself.
Thanks for sharing !

I've been there!

If I understand right the disease can make you feel all alone even with in a crowd.

But you are not alone. There are many that struggle just like you do. *hug* Besides we are here for you and the Lord is wishing to fill that void you fill with in.

Congrats on the 32 days! :)

Hello mcfrissa

Wow 32 days ! One day more than 31 huh ? And that is exactly what we ALL have , is ONE day . The big book (AA) states , "What we have is a daily reprieve , contingent upon our spiritual health" (paraphrased) .
Guess what ? , we do the same thing , we get the same thing right ? (Only better !) , for tomorrow will be 33 days and closer to God ;)

Keep on keeping on , you're on the right track .

In Christ , our Lord

The Joy of the Lord is my stregnth and His Peace passesall understanding ... the devil is a lier he comes to steal kill and destroy but I come that you may have life and have it more abundantly as I hear Him say Peace be still as He calms you in the storm...

thank you to EVERYONE for the encouraging words of hope and support! I'm just pushing through each day, almost everyday I think about using, but by God's grace, I've pushed through 33 days now, and I've come to realize that's all I can do, one day at a time. thanx so much!

34 days going on 35! woo hoo! I have a question, my friend's brother appears to be drinking again, she seems to either be in denial about it, or she simply doesn't realize it. should we tell her about our suspicions? or should we not say anything about it unless the opportunity comes up? thanx so much! *Cross*

Don't fret or worry, instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns, Before you know it,a sense of God's wholeness , everything working together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. Philippians 4:6-7

35!!! :)

The first month must be one of the hardest. And you made it. Congrats!

As far as the friend I'd pray and listen about what God wants you to do. Possibly He has another plan than just sharing with her your suspicions. Possibly a time will come when you can share with her all the great reasons why you are glad you've made it this far with out leaning on an addiction.
